Bab 22: Chapter Twenty-two
I relaxed ignoring the two thinking of what to do for the rest of the day. I knew I was in charge of Airc and making sure he didn't cause trouble but from what I could tell the only trouble he wanted to cause was only to me. He was really making me test my limits of restraint. Although I was also far more angry than I had been in a very long time. The last time I had been so angry had been before that incident.
I understood Airc was pushing my buttons and making me angry but whether it was on purpose or not was something else. If he was doing it on purpose I didn't know why he was. If he wasn't making me angry on purpose I could see why as he was constantly bugging me saying he was going to marry me. I honestly didn't know if it was on purpose or not but I knew for one thing I could not let my guard down while around him.
I relaxed thinking until I heard Airc walk over speaking. "Kanami, let's go eat its lunch time and I'm starving." I opened my eyes and looked at him, "Have Togami take you." Airc spoke, "what about you though?" I sat up, "I'm not hungry." Airc looks at me, "Not hungry? But you ate so little for breakfast. How can you not be hungry?"
I sighed and looked at Togami before back at Airc, "I don't eat a lot. One small meal a day is good enough for me." Airc looks at me, "Is it because you're hurt? I can carry you." I looked at him, "absolutely not. This is my normal. I don't eat a lot at any given time." Airc looks at me, "but why? It's not healthy."
I shook my head, "I'm not sick nor anorexic or ill in any which way from how I eat. I get sick if I eat too much on the other hand." Airc blinks, "really?" I nodded, "yes." Airc nodded softly, "ok then…."
I watched as he turned around and looked to my brother. I couldn't see the look on Airc's face but from the look on my brother's face I could tell it was not a look I wanted to see. I probably would have lost my temper while my brother had patience better than me and only had a look of aspergation and frustration on his face before he sighed and looked at me speaking.
"Kanami.. Would you come with us? To prevent any accidents from happening?" I looked at him, "what accidents are you talking about?" Togami sighed, "me losing my sanity and his causing troubles." I sighed, "fine. I will go with you." Togami nodded, "Thank you."
I nodded before standing up careful of my injured leg making sure to keep most of my weight on my right leg. I looked at the two before Togami headed out. I limped following him out while Airc stayed next to me and looked as if he was wanting to do something he knew would get him in trouble. I kept an eye on him as I walked following my brother to the kitchen area.
I wasn't going to let Airc cause any trouble while out and was going to try to to lose my own sanity. I understood my brother's unwillingness to take care of Airc by himself. Airc really could make one want to bash their heads in if they couldn't strangle him. I looked over as we reached the kitchen area and the two got in line. I nodded to the two before I went and sat down nearby to watch them.
I sat watching them as they waited in line. I noticed someone walking up behind me and I looked at the man. It was the same man that had caused me troubles last time. He seemed to be looking for more trouble as he looked at me maleficently. The man then spoke up and a scornful tone.
"You know if you want to eat you actually have to get in line. Watching the line won't get you any food." I sighed and spoke, "I'm not here to eat." The man chuckles, "oh really? Then why the hell are you here then? Wanting to do the work you didn't do last time?" I looked at the man coldly, "No, I'm here on babysitting duty so buzz off."
The man scowled angrily, "oh really? Who are you babysitting? I bet you're just here to eat and are too lazy to get in line" I spoke, "I am not hungry and if I really we're lazy I wouldn't even bother talking to you. I wouldn't even bother coming out here to make sure ..the certain someone who is now behind you doesn't cause trouble."
I sighed in annoyance, "Airc if you make one move against him I will not let you have any pain meds and let you suffer. Also go get back in line." The man spun and looked at Airc who had a murderous look on his face even as he spoke to me. "Kanami.. he insulted you. He should be gutted and hung high for a few days." I sighed, "absolutely not now go." Airc scowled, "Fine.."
I watched as he glared at the man a bit longer before stalking off back to my brother who had a look of shock as he looked over at us. I looked at the man who was shocked and sighed. I then spoke up to the man.
"I'd go now and not cause any more trouble. That idiot is more dangerous and temperamental than me and he is not sane. Also you should really try to understand the situation first before causing trouble." I then turned away as the man walked off.
I turned my attention back to where Airc and Togami were in line. Togami had a nervous and shocked look on his face while Airc looked to be fuming mad. I sighed, shaking my head. I really didn't want to babysit this idiot. He couldn't even keep his cool for one minute.
I watched them as they got their lunch and walked over to me. Airc sat next to me and smiled brightly, his earlier anger gone. I looked away and to my brother as he sat down across from me. I nodded softly before I heard him comment.
"I can see why the captain put you in charge of him. You manage to get him to listen. I tried stopping him but with no luck at all." I nodded softly, "I threaten him."
Airc spoke, "well I would listen either way if you didn't threaten but while angry it would take more work for me to listen." I looked at him coldly, "I can tell"
Airc smiled., "you should have a bite of this." He changed the top as he held up his sandwich and I replied. "No, I told you before I am not hungry." Airc pouted, "b-b-but… Pwease…" I looked at him, "Are you a child? I said no. I am not hungry. Now shut up and eat your food." Airc mumbled, "okay…."
He went silent eating his food. I looked at Togami and shrugged at his look. I didn't want to bother with Airc's childish attitude nor deal with him trying to get me to eat. He was starting to make me think of my mother when she visited me in San Francisco. My mother had bugged me the whole time trying to get me to eat more.
I sighed and waited for them to finish eating. I looked up as I saw captain Sean walk over to us. He looked at Airc and then me before he spoke up.
"I've gotten a couple reports about Airc attacking others." I spoke, "He didn't kill and one the second one he didn't touch anyone only glared. He is behaving somewhat better." Sean sighed and grumbled, "All the reports involve you. You being insulted is some way and then he attacks." I looked at him, "I've noticed but what can I do? I can only make sure he doesn't kill anyone."
Sean sighed, "yeah.. I know just try to keep him in line or lock him up." I looked at him, "You really think any chains or locks can keep him locked up?" Sean paused, "..no." I nodded softly, "Exactly so there is no point. I just am keeping him from killing or escaping or getting his hands on classified documents."
Airc commented, "I already got into those a long time ago, your firewalls are easy to bypass honestly. I may not be a computer genius but its enough to get by them." I looked at him coldly, "When did you get past them?" Airc paused, "two days ago. I found nothing interesting so I didn't bother with it. Really I'm just killing time doing whatever I want. My missions have always been to kill high ranking officials. Well, it was."
I looked at him, "So what are you doing now?" Airc spoke, "I'm trying to win your heart over of course. I want to marry you." He smiled brightly at me. I groaned, "can you really not say that? It is getting on my nerves." Airc blinked, "but it's the truth."
I sighed, shaking my head in aspergation. I looked to Captain Sean pointedly before nodding. He went and patted me on the shoulder before walking off. I looked to Togami who was avoiding looking up as he ate his food. He was clearly trying not to get involved in the earlier conversation. I couldn't blame him though I didn't want to be in the conversation either but had to be.
