Bab 1: Memories of the past Part 1

My memories began to be replayed again before my eyes; showing me ....a time before being sealed

....a time before the holy war, a time before Meliodas betrayed us.....

a time before I was in a loving relationship with Derieri....

Long ago in the demon kingdom, A completely innocent looking boy was studying books in a library on numerous spells.

An armored demon walked into the room, but before he even had the chance to speak and interrupt my reading, I shut my book.

"Sir Vessalius, the demon king requests you head towards the courtyard for your duel with Sir Meliodas."

"I'll be there right away. Thank you, Mr. Knight."

The boy spoke out in a childish tone.

"Of course, it is my pleasure, my prince."

The knight spoke out insincerely.

'Well I guess it's time to reveal my strength to my brothers. I haven't fought in ages, so this should be quite enjoyable.'

I began to walk down the dark and dreary halls of the demon king's castle, each step echoing slightly, until I entered the courtyard, seeing my father standing to one side with my old teacher Chandler, who smirked as he saw me.

I notice Zeldris was also there with my father and Chandler; Meliodas was already on the field.

I proceeded to walk over to my father and my master. My attempt at keeping up the act became harder with each step as my excitement for a fight kept building up. So many years without any combat has got me all riled up for a mere spar.

"Father, Chandler."

"Master Vessalius, you've arrived."

"So what do you want me to do for this duel?"

Before Chandler could respond, my father spoke to me, for the first time in a while. I wasn't surprised at his intervention, he used to occasionally converse with me, but I've been busy with my studies. Unlike my brothers, my thoughts and suggestions were welcomed, asking about my progress and what I've been up to. He even took interest when I mentioned I took a liking to one of the elites he plans to use in his group that he is creating in case war breaks out. I was at first surprised he took so much interest in anything to do with me, he treated me differently than my brothers.

"Vessalius, you're allowed to show your full power and drop the act. I want you to humble your brother. His pride could be a problem in the future."

"As you command, father."

"And if you manage to do so, I'll allow you to showcase your true self and power to Derieri and the other commandments. If you do well today, I'll arrange a fight between you and each one of the commandments to test your progress and theirs."

"Thank you father, I'll show him no mercy."

My eyes slowly changed from their previous innocent blue eyes, to crimson red for a mere second. Then my eyes instantly changed back to blue and a happy smile etched upon my face once again.

"Can we hurry this up already? I want to get back to training as soon as possible!"

"Of course, Master Meliodas."

"Be on your way now, Vessalius, show me our training didn't go to waste."

I nod towards Chandler and begin to run towards Meliodas at a human-like speed.

"I'm so sorry for the wait, brother. I'm on my way."

"Just surrender so I can move on with my day."

"I'm afraid I can't do that brother, father would be deeply disappointed in me," I responded in a child-like tone.

"Then you'll serve as a great warm up."

My brother darkly smirked after uttering those words. He leaped at me as he held out his  broadsword, preparing to slash at me.

He was going for an overhead vertical strike. I waited until the blade was about to strike my face before I drew my blade and parried his attack. My once blue eyes became crimson red, a dark smile grew as I saw his dumbfounded and surprised face.

Emotions besides his usual cold look and sadistic smirk found its way upon his face. .

Meliodas proceeded to enter assault mode, his demon mark now showing on his forehead. Countering, I too unleashed my demon mark, with darkness covering my legs in the same way as Meliodas. Chains made out of darkness started to wrap around my arms, each chain ending with a sharp spike.

Meliodas launched off the ground like a rocket lifting off releasing an unrelenting flurry of slashes. I dodged each attack seemingly effortlessly. Then I twisted my body, unleashing a brutal kick to his side. I felt his ribs cracking after taking the full power of my kick, sending Meliodas flying; I then positioned my arms forward, willing my chains of darkness to wrap around Meliodas, binding him completely. I watched as he squirmed and struggled to break free of my chains, which brought a smirk to my face.

'There's no reason to take this too seriously, it's just a simple spar. I'll only slightly rough him up for now.'

I raised my arms over my head, launching Meliodas into the air and then brought them down quickly, slamming him into the ground, leaving a crater scarring the ground and launching shards of broken rock into the surroundings.

I began to spin around to build momentum, dragging Meliodas across the floor like a ragdoll until I raised my arms over my head again, and brought my arms down again, slamming Meliodas into the ground. I proceeded to slam him into the ground three more times; As I was about to lift my arms for another slam, my chains of darkness shattered.

I looked at Meliodas who looked back at me with a serious look on his face, finally realizing how much of a threat I really am. His left side was covered in darkness, presumably to heal his broken ribs.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Zeldris's suprised face, and my father and Chandler nodding in approval.

So I could hangout with Derieri and spend time with her, so I decided to end this quickly.

I began to use my mana to cast a spell of my own making.

"You know Meliodas, if you just thought a bit more you probably would've realized that this was an act. I mean it's painfully obvious, how could a son of the demon king be so pathetic? How could I act so childish yet be so old? It's just common sense really, and yet most of you still fall for my act… to be fair though, I was quite impressive in my acting."

"No one could have unless I let them know. After all, my unique ability always lets me play innocent, it changes my power to whatever I de sire as well as make me seem innocent in the eyes of others. If only your pride didn't blind you from the obvious clues that this wouldn't be an easy fight."

Enough mana was poured into the spell I was constructing, a spell that Meliodas couldn't possibly counter.

"Final Judgment!"

An array with a plethora of different symbols appeared upon the ground, each one glowing with an eerie purple light, followed by a pillar of darkness engulfing Meliodas' body, leaving a blood curdling scream in its place.

"Argh!"

Seeing him unconscious and moderately injured , I cut off the stream of mana put into the spell.

Not surprised by my victory, afterall, I was stronger in nearly every way.

"Well done, Master Vessalius."

"That was amazing, Vessalius, I didn't know you were that strong! Can we spar some time?"

My brother spoke out enthusiastically.

"Of course we can Zeldris, anything for my little brother. I apologize for keeping this from you."

"It's fine, I understand why you had to do such a thing. I'm looking forward to our spar."

"As always you have delivered results, and as promised you can meet the ten commandments. As long as you don't reveal to the general populace your true strength, you may stop pretending to be childish, and you can act like yourself around others for now as your reward."

"Thank you, father. I appreciate your gifts. I shall cut the childish act as you have requested."

"Thank you, Chandler, I appreciate it, but I'm undeserving of such praise. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting with the ten commandments to attend to."

The event over, my father and I silently walked towards the throne room, leaving behind the unconscious Meliodas with Chandler and Zeldris.

'After I get acquainted with the other commandments, I can hang out with Derieri like usual. We can talk about what we've been up to while we walk around or she can tell me how her day was and what she has been up to, maybe even talk about how her training has been. Maybe we can do something else like skip some rocks or something. Better yet maybe meeting her sister and getting to know her family better would be nice.'

'She's just so nice to be around her way of speaking, her personality, the concern and caring she has for her sister, the kindness shes shown me when we first met, even when she thought I was a weak demon. I decided to show her the real me unlike other demons and we hit it off since. The time we've spent together, I wouldn't trade for anything. One time me and Derieri went out for some drinks and it was a blast. We talked the night away as we drank and drank. The only downside being the massive hangover we suffered after.'

'After that she never wanted to drink again. Point being we are just really close.'

I finally finished reminiscing about the times I've hung out with Derieri so far, coming back to reality as my father and I continued our way to the throne room, reaching there at long last. With a motion of my father's hands, the doors opened. Unhindered to our destination we walked in and there before me and my father stood nine of the ten commandments.
