Bab 83: Return
As the heavy doors slammed shut with an ominous thud, a flickering shadowy flame materialized in the chamber, revealing the sinister figure of Adrian. Clara's eyes narrowed as she shouted defiantly, "We won't let you lay a finger on Lyra!"
Adrian's lips curled into a cruel smirk. "You see, both you and Lilith are fine suspects yourselves," he purred. "Young and pure, just how my lord loves them."
A chill ran down their spines as Adrian continued, "Lord Nosferatu, a powerful essence user from the founding days of Ashborne Academy, was said to be the most powerful vampire ever. Yet they wrongfully sealed him away."
Lilith stepped forward, correcting him with steely determination. "Lord Nosferatu was an evil man who wanted to make Ashborne Academy a domain solely for sanguine users. He was rightfully sealed to protect us all."
Adrian's eyes flashed with malice. "He was right!" he exclaimed, his voice rising with fanatical fervor. "By sacrificing fifteen innocent, pure, and gifted essence ladies, I will break the seal and become unstoppable when I absorb Nosferatu's immense power."
The room seemed to grow colder as the gravity of Adrian's twisted plan sank in. Clara and Lilith exchanged a horrified glance, realizing the true depths of his depravity. They had to stop him, no matter the cost.
Just before the battle reached a fever pitch, a thunderous explosion rocked the chamber, blasting open the sealed doors. Through the billowing smoke strode Lyra, clad in her battle attire, vials of alchemical concoctions lining her belt.
"Adrian, your reign of horror ends today!" she declared, her voice ringing with conviction.
Relief washed over Clara and Lilith at the sight of their friend, renewed determination surging through them. Together, they were a force to be reckoned with.
Adrian snarled, the ritual momentarily disrupted by Lyra's dramatic entrance. "You meddlesome fool! You dare interfere with Lord Nosferatu's glorious return?"
