Bab 8: Chapter 6 Change of plans
Personally Mr Chika did not offend him . He didn't even know the man though he'd heard about the man's exploits and hushed stories about his misdeeds, his reputation preceded him .
Despite not knowing the man , he was in this together with Vincent to see the crook punished for what he did to his best friend's family.
He'd known Cole and Vincent since high school, but he had being closer to Cole than Vincent , that's why he took this personal. During their high school days they had been as thick as thieves and being the less affluent one of them some had seen him as their errand boy ,even Vincent atimes but not Cole who treated him with respect and his equal. They had been friends in every sense of the word, through good and bad times, sharing their hopes and dreams for the future together. He was caring, understanding. After they had graduated from university and he had no job opportunity, Cole had put in a good word for him in his father's company and he was hired immediately. Though he had his faults, he had being everything good. He wasn't going to stop until he made the bastard pay for killing such a good soul. Though if had been up to him he wouldn't have gotten Clarisse involved.
He hated using innocent people when he wanted to fight dirty but since the decision was up to Vincent to decide the way he wanted to avenge his family, he wasn't going to judge. He knew Vincent had always been unscrupulous but never outrightly mean. This was new side of him he was seeing, this moody, hostile person was not the Vincent he knew and he understood that it was brought on by the death of his parents and only brother, but he just wished he'd left Clarisse and her child out of this, but he knew no matter what happened he would stand with Vincent to see Mr Chika disgraced and thrown into jail.
Knock knock the door was pushed open without waiting for an invitation to come in.
"You really should learn how to wait for a response after knocking Jake. One of this days am going to have to fire you." Vincent said to the person who just came in . He was leisurely drinking a glass of vodka and staring out his room window. "Well getting fired only applies to your employees and since am not , i don't see that happening." The person he called Jake replied , he strood over to Vincent and they shook hands and clasped each other in a brief bear hug." Bro! How have you being ," " well, as well can be ." Vincent replied. "Am fine too thanks for asking" Jake said playfully.
"Forgive my manners lot of stuff going through my mind, " he gestures to the sofa for them to sit down.
"So what's up why did you call me over? Jake asked as he sat down.
"I know you said to wait a little longer, but I've already began the process of phase two of our plan." Said Vincent
"What do you mean you've began the process of phase two of our plan? Don't tell me you've shot the video already ?" "That is in fact what am trying to tell you. We've shot the video and all that's left is send it to her dad."
"Vincent we agreed to keep her for a week and shoot the video the beginning of the next week, by then her old man would be over his head trying to look for his daughter and granddaughter and that would make him more susceptible to our demands,but it's only been what... four days and you've shot the video already?"
" I know we agreed on that, but from the intel am getting her old man has already found out she's missing and going berserk trying to look for her. He's got the police, private detectives and even investigative reporters involved. If we drag this on it won't be long before he's unto us and find out our hiding place and then everything we've done will be for nothing . Everyone who joined this mission to see that man punished for his crime against them will become the criminals and I can't let that happen. So i figured the earlier we get this done and over with, the better."
" I get where you are coming from, but now there's a change in our plans how do we proceed from here?" Jake asked.
" This is where you come in Jake" he handed over a flashdrive to Jake. " That flashdrive contains the video we shot of Clarisse which you're to deliver to Mr Chika through ghost delivery."
" What do you mean by ghost delivery " Jake asked in exasperation.
"There's no need to be annoyed I'll explain. It's a form of delivery service where you place a call to some group of people asking for anyone in need of quick cash to make a delivery for you. You make this call using a pay phone or any phone that can't be traced back to you. Somebody is bound is to take you up on your offer. Someone from the group picks up, you both discuss the location to drop off the package where he or she will pick it up. The person making the delivery doesn't have to know who you are or what he or she is carrying, they just deliver what they are given to the specified address no questions asked .As for payment, everything is also done off the radar no transfer or any form of internet banking. Everything is done with cash.
After you make sure that the package have been delivered you..." Jake interrupted " Hold up, hold up one second , if it's a ghost affair, how are my to know when the delivery have been made if i don't even know who am giving a job to. Don't give me that annoyed look , answer the darn question.
" Being a ghost goes both ways yes, but if a person wants to be sure their goods have being delivered without any hitches there are ways to go about it. When you've made preparations with a ghost courier to pick up a package at a chosen time and location, after dropping it off you wait behind to see whoever picks up the package then you put a tail on the person till the goods have been delivered without any mishap. And yes before you ask, if a ghost courier wants to know the identity of their ghost employer , they can. But they aren't interested in the person or his business just the money . That's what these people do , ghost jobs of different varieties which I wouldn't want to go into. Any more questions on how ghost delivery works?
"No, you can continue with what you were about to say before I interrupted."
"When the delivery have been made let me know, then i would go meet him personally. " Said Vincent
" Okay time to put our plans to action." Jake made to get up but Vincent forstalled him. "Jake, be careful."
Not much needed to be said but Jake understood. He smiled then got up to leave. It would be a lie if he said he wasn't afraid, there was every possibility that their plans could go wrong, and they would all get arrested, but he was not going to chicken out now.
