Bab 246: Morning After

Jessica squirmed in Damon's arms, half laughing, half protesting as he snuggled her close. "It's morning. We should be out and about not doing this!"

Damon grinned down at her, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Too late. I'm already committed to the bit."

Jessica couldn't help but smile as she let herself relax against his chest. His warmth, his scent— everything about him felt safe and right in a way she hadn't expected.

"Now," he said, his voice playful but soft, "this is how it's supposed to go."

Jessica raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And how's that?"

He propped himself up on one elbow as he gazed at her. "First, I was going to wake you up with coffee and maybe some toast if I didn't burn it while daydreaming about you. Then we'd sit here and talk about how amazing last night was and the way forward without you bolting off like Cinderella at midnight."

Jessica laughed, her cheeks flushing. "I didn't bolt."
