"Mmhmm... What're your names and where are you from? We don't seem to have any of you on file."
...
The Lieutenant goes through a number of basic questions that Michael isn't able to answer, their origin system, country... Or why they were on a previously undiscovered alien ring satellite... Yeah, Michael had looked up earlier and seen it, they were currently on 'a' Halo, he wasn't sure what point in the timeline they currently were, so it was best to keep that kind of information close to his chest.
"Youknow, I REALLY don't like it when I'm lied to. And I'm finding it very hard to believe that three, clean, wealthy, and healthy-looking 'civilians' just managed to find themselves in the center of a warzone... Maybe if you started telling the truth, we could help each other out?"
"Really, I have no idea how we got here... My friends and I were just looking to explore and wandered into that fight. Maybe we could help you guys out if you asked nicely though? As Mercenaries?"
The woman sniffs derisively, "Mercenaries? What do you take us for? The Covenant?... Under United Nations law, the UNSC is required to render aid to any civilian or refugee we find... But, this is not United Nations territory, nor are you United Nations civilians. Your safety is optional..." she says something into her radio and the door opens, revealing a soldier carrying Saeko's sword and Megumin's staff.
"We can start being truthful with these, if you like. What are they?" she inquires, taking the sword and looking it over, marvelling at its design and sharpness.
"What's it look like? A katana... Her name's Kakonoitami." Saeko irritably says, not happy at the woman touching her blade so carelessly.
"Japanese then? Strange, we didn't find anything in or on this indicating that it could deflect plasma weapon projectiles... By rights you should be a pile of ash right now, Miss Busujima."
*Click*
She sheaths the sword and hands it off, now taking the staff, "And this... A piece of wood with a strange, pretty huge ruby on it. What, are you in costume as a witch or something?" the Lieutenant chuckles, only to pause at Megumin's silence.
"No, really...?" she asks incredulously.
As if taking her disbelief as a challenge, Megumin goes off... "Hmph! You're looking at the most accomplished Arch-Wizard ever to grace the universe! I am Megumin! Master of Fire and Explosions! Wielder of death and familiar of the Void between worlds itself! DESTROYER OF-"
"Megumin, chill..." Michael mutters while palming his face, causing her to shrink as she looks at the Lieutenant's wide eyes.
"Lieutenant, we have some cells ready. We can't have insane people walking around the compound unaccompanied..."
She holds up a hand, "You're telling me that you think you're magical..." she shakes her head and drops the staff on the table the trio were sitting at. "Go on then, show me some magic." she mockingly asks.
Megumin sends an imploring look at Michael, puppy eyes and all... Reluctantly, he gives a small nod with a disappointed sigh to accompany it, not that she acknowledges the last part.
Megumin takes the staff and jabs it at the wall, weak lightning fires out and strikes it causing the Lieutenant and the male soldier to back away in shock.
"What the fuck!? I thought you said that thing was wood!?"
"It is! We scanned it a dozen times!"
"There's no fucking you, do it again!" she angrily shouts, quickly snatching the staff and handing it to the man who shuffled away. She then sends a glare at the trio, "You three stay here, this is a military instalment and we won't tolerate trespassing. Let me warn you one last time... YOU WILL GET SHOT." she exclaims before leaving and slamming the door behind her, a locking sound ringing out afterwards.
...
"That went well... Megumin..." Michael sighs.
"Why are we even sticking around for this? Let's just leave and find the Flood ourselves."
"Do you know nothing about this universe?" Michael chides, "Where humans go, trouble follows. I'm not about to go walking endlessly around this giant space-ring when we could just wait here and have shit come to us instead."
...
"Have you got some snacks at least?" Megumin asks.
"For me and Saeko... You're getting a salad for not getting ahold of yourself..." he says, dropping a number of sweets, beverages, and snacks on the table. He also drops a generator, T.V, and C.D player so they could watch some movies while they wait.
"Nooo, realllly? I asked you for permission first!"
"Rules are rules." he says as he takes a bite out of a Mars bar.

Lieutenant Melissa Mckay storms out of the room and towards the compounds workshop, quickly finding the guys who'd examined the 'devices' and tearing them a new one.
"I don't know where you get your rocks off, but playing a prank with unknown, potentially dangerous technology is not acceptable!" she gestures angrily at the staff that'd been set on a table, "I just watched our prisoner shoot lightning out of that thing! Yet it was a 'Completely harmless lump of wood!?' Scan it again and be serious about it this time, before I have you thrown in a cell this time!"
...
The men shut up and get to work, scanning the staff another dozen times only to come up with nothing. Melissa stares at the results with a twitching eye before looking at the nearby soldier, "Did you properly search the prisoners before bringing them here?"
"A comprehensive pat down as regulated, Lieutenant..."
"Then-... What..." she shakes her head and feels the impending migraine approaching. "Don't say a word to Major Silva, he has better things to concentrate on than some wayward refugees." she angrily says before making her way back to the cells to try and wring more information out of them.

"What..." Lieutenant Mckay utters in complete confusion as she enters the room, spotting the three prisoners having what looked like a party, complete with drinks, snacks, and games... They hadn't been let out, and that television they were using looked thousands of years out of date!... Not only that, HOW DID THEY GET A T.V IN HERE!?
"Lieutenant, want to join us? I'm on a winning streak right now." Michael offers, prompting Megumin to reluctantly present her controller.
...
The woman squeezes the bridge of her nose, takes a deep breath, and steps out of the room for a couple minutes. When she returns her face is firmed into one of complete neutrality, one that hopefully wouldn't be breached by the trio's BS...
"So, is that a yes or no?" Michael presses, only to have the controller snatched out of his hand and thrown into the floor, shattering it into a million plastic pieces.
"HELL NO! I'M DONE PUTTING UP WITH YOUR STUPID ANTICS! TELL ME WHAT I WANT TO KNOW OR SO HELP ME GOD, I WILL HAVE YOU TIED TO A TREE AND USED AS TARGET PRACTICE!"
...
"You should've just said so in the first place." Michael shrugs as he sits back in his chair, a grin plastered across his face.
...
The lieutenant shakes her head, forcing the thought of shooting Michael in the face from her mind, "What is your objective for being here, and what are those strange weapons!"
Michael nods sagely, "We are from the future!" he announces while ignoring Saeko and Megumin's crappy attempts to not laugh at the situation, "We have come to help save humanity from an abominable species known as the Flood!"
...
The lieutenant stares at him for a couple seconds before drawing her pistol and shooting Michael in the face... Only to stand there in shock as the squashed bullet bounces off of his forehead and hits the floor next to her boot. "W-hat..."
"Fuuutuuuree...." Michael waves his hands 'mysteriously' before shaking his head and laughing as Saeko jabs him in the side with the tip of her boot, "Alright, alright, I'll get serious... We're not from the future but we have technology that lets us peer into it. We can't say much but rest assured, we're here to help."
"Bullshit."
"Look, we could've left this place whenever we wanted." Michael says, standing up and storing all of his passions into his book. Then, he walks to the locked door and forces it open with strength alone, literally bending and tearing the metal under the Lieutenant's horrified eyes.
"So, why don't you tell me where Master Chief has gone so we can start saving your asses?" he asks while ignoring the many Assault Rifles aimed at his back, courtesy of the soldiers guarding the cell.
...
--------------------------------------------------
"That was a really stupid idea..." Saeko loudly complains as the trio quickly flees from the military compound with a small army of UNSC marines chasing them.
"It was going fine until I mentioned Master Chief!"
"Oh yeah, why would they be suspicious when you mention their greatest asset and most famous war hero? It isn't like they already thought we were spies!"
Michael telekinetically grabs a volley of missiles and throws them at a nearby cliff, "Yeah, well, my speeches usually work!"
"No, they don't! You just think they do because everyone's too scared to object!" Megumin hotly retorts as she casts a physical ward which blocks some Warthog machine gunfire.
Michael shakes his head, "Whatever, fuck these stick-up-the-ass-douchebags!" he spits as he grabs both girls under his arms and blasts away with his Frostfire wings, leaving the soldiers all dumbly watching him leave...
"They might've just let us go if you hadn't stormed the base..." Megumin mutters as the wind bats at her hair.
"Oh? You wanted me to leave your weapons there? I know Saeko would've cut them all to pieces if I suggested it."
"Whatever... Where are we going now?" the explosion-girl asks as they fly high in the air, scanning the land around them for something of interest.
"I was thinking to persuade some Covenant soldiers to tell us where they're holding Captain Keys, I'm pretty sure that's where we'll find the flood...? If not that then the Containment Facility."
"You're the boss..."

A Sangheili elite manning the turret aboard a Phantom checks his weapon for the Nth time today, eagerly awaiting the moment he could thrust himself into honourable combat again. The battle between the Covenant and the heretics had raged on the Installation for many days now, yet the pathetic species had somehow fended off all of their attacks...
Thuza 'Kutam thought most of their failures could lay solely on the shoulders of the Demon, the armoured creature that tore apart whole armies on its own without a shred of hesitation, even the cowards who surrendered weren't spared.
The worst part was that it was clear the Demon COULD die, only that it didn't. It could bleed, but for every drop of blood they took from it, it took many gallons in return.
"I will be the one to claim the Demon's head, my glory will live on for generations." Thuza growls under his breath, but gets overheard by a nearby Unggoy grunt, "Ha! If you think you can kill that guy you've got another thing comin'! He's crazy scary! Not like you guy-s..." the grunt pauses at the Elite glares daggers at it.
"I'll... Just be on my way-... Hey, what's that over there?" it pauses, pointing towards the sky in the direction Thuza should have been keeping watch in.
"Hmm? Looks like a white fireball? Like Wraith shot-... No, wait, more like a bird?"
Thuza's eyes widen as he focuses on the thing, quickly opening fire on it when he realises what it was. "FLYING HERETICS!"
"OH NO! THEY'VE GROWN WINGS AND ASCENDED!" the grunt fearfully shouts as it runs around in a circle with no real objective aside from simply panicking.
"INCOMING!"
*BOOOOOOOM!*
