Bab 447: Presentation

At the KiShin press conference, the diverse audience, consisting of business professionals, journalists, and industry insiders, was visibly taken aback by the unveiling of the new product.

"iPhone?" echoed through the crowd, a mixture of curiosity and confusion hanging in the air.

"Is that actually a phone?" one bewildered attendee whispered to another.

"What does the 'i' stand for?" someone else pondered aloud, trying to make sense of the name.

"Does it do something more than just make calls?" questioned another, struggling to reconcile the traditional concept of a phone with the innovative design displayed on the LED screen and the physical device on stage.

"This design... it's like nothing we've seen before," a journalist noted, scribbling down first impressions, while another leaned in and asked, "But where are the buttons?"

The room buzzed with a blend of skepticism and intrigue as the audience tried to grasp the concept of the iPhone.

In Arnold's family living room, Arnold, Shinichi, and the others watched in astonishment as KiShin unveiled the iPhone.

"KiShin's announcing a phone?!" Arnold blurted out, his voice a mix of surprise and disbelief.

"I was so sure they were going to announce another home console," Satoshi lamented, disappointment coloring his tone.

"Me too," Ryo agreed, shaking his head.

"And I was convinced they'd unveil a new handheld console," Takeshi added, echoing the sentiment of disappointment.

Suddenly, Satoshi's eyes widened. "Wait—" he exclaimed, pointing at Shinichi, "Shinichi was right all along! KiShin did announce a phone!"

The room turned to look at Shinichi, who was at a loss for words. Arnold gave him a surprised look and said, "This is unexpected. I really thought KiShin was out of the phone game, but they've just dropped a bombshell on us..." He paused, then turned to Shinichi with a wry smile, "You were just throwing out a wild guess, and here you were, right on the money, Shinichi."

"Yeah, I honestly thought suggesting a cellphone from KiShin would be a long shot," Satoshi reflected, still surprised. "I never expected it to actually be their big reveal today."

While acknowledging the unexpected turn of events, Arnold and the others shared knowing looks among themselves.

Deep down, they couldn't shake off the suspicion that Shinichi's dad might indeed be Shinro Suzuki, the chairman of KiShin. They subtly communicated their thoughts through eye contact and facial expressions, careful not to let Shinichi catch on to their speculations.

As they turned their attention back to the TV, Arnold voiced his curiosity, "What's so special about this cellphone? My idol Shinro said it's going to revolutionize the world. How?"

"Cellphones are great for calls and texts, but can the iPhone truly turn the industry on its head?" Ryo pondered, skepticism written all over his face.

"Let's keep watching. We'll find out what makes the iPhone stand out," Satoshi suggested, and the rest of the group nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Shinichi, watching his father take the stage at the KiShin press conference, recalled his dad's words to overcome the mockery from competitors in the cellphone industry and to introduce a groundbreaking product that would change the world.

Shinro Suzuki stood tall and confident alongside Steve Jobs on the brightly illuminated stage, the iPhone gleaming between them. He began, his voice imbued with passion and certainty.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today marks the dawn of a new era in communication, entertainment, and personal computing," Shinro proclaimed, his hand gracefully indicating the elegant device beside him. "The iPhone is more than just a phone. It's the culmination of KiShin's innovative journey, incorporating our groundbreaking multi-touch technology, which many of you experienced through our KSP, now refined and fitting perfectly into the palm of your hand."

Murmurs rippled through the audience, a mix of curiosity and skepticism. "Touchscreen is impressive, but can it really change the world?" some wondered aloud, harboring doubts despite the promise of innovation.

With a smooth gesture, Shinro activated the iPhone, its vibrant lock screen capturing every gaze. "Observe," he said, a hint of a smile in his voice, "just a simple swipe, and the phone unlocks."

A hush fell over the crowd as he demonstrated, swiping the screen to unlock it. The room erupted in applause, the sight of a phone with a colorful, expansive touchscreen, unlocked with just a swipe, captivating everyone.

As the iPhone's home screen appeared, the audience was drawn in further as Shinro began detailing its features. With each new revelation, excitement built, punctuated by bursts of applause. It became increasingly clear that Shinro's vision for the iPhone as a world-changing device might just be within reach.

Steve Jobs then stepped forward, his presence alone quieting the room. "Imagine the possibilities," he enthused, "scrolling through emails, flipping through photos, zooming into maps, all intuitively, with just a touch of your finger. This is what the iPhone brings to your world - an immediate, direct interaction with your digital life."

Among the audience, a journalist was scribbling away, barely pausing as they whispered to themselves, "This could redefine mobile technology as we know it."
