(Rosalie P.O.V.)
'Well, that was rude', Rosalie could not help but think to herself, as she sat on the soft sofa-bed that Bella had been calling her own for the past week since Edward's insistence, hovering, and anxiety were getting the best of her.
It's not as if Rose did not understand. Edward was afraid. What they felt from the developing baby in Bella's stomach was something that even caused the war hardened Jasper to hyperventilate in both hunger and fear of what was to come.
It was a hunger that felt never-ending. One that went so deep that it could consume the world if given the opportunity.
Now, while this might be shock-inducing to some who were in that room, Rosalie was different. Her parents, siblings, and mate, look at the world through a far rosier lens than she did.
She had seen the horrors of the world. She had bathed her hands in blood and had quenched that thirst that comes with knowing that you truly are the most powerful predator on the planet and those that you once feared, were now nothing more than food.
However, she chose to change. To bury those...instincts. She convinced herself that it was just her pain talking. Her pain born of fear and helplessness that drove her to commit those acts of revenge that was not supposed to be so sweet.
Then, she felt that baby. His call. She knew he was male. She heard it in the voice. It was wispy, immature, and barely developed, but there was something underneath it. Something that sounded powerful and came from the deep. Something that said "feed me". And she truly wanted to...but she couldn't.
While she was considering rounding up some of the many less-desirables that pollute the world, her family was of a very different opinion. One that did now allow her to voice her thoughts. Thoughts that she had long learned to keep below the surface to protect her privacy. No, her family's thoughts were definitely not in line with her own.
Some of the cowards wanted to kill the baby, like barbarians burning women at stacks for being witches. While some wanted to protect the baby because only time could tell what he would become. But none of them truly wanted to feed him.
She could tell.
That is why, she took it upon herself in the beginning to get the ball rolling.
It was not easy at first. Especially with the wolves being bitches in the forests, thinking they had a say in the matter, the fools. She could not wait until the day her family came to their senses and got rid of those clear threats. Or at the very least moved the hell away from their back yard. Who the hell sleeps with an unleashed, untrained, dog across the hall from them with their door open?
It was truly crazy in her opinion.
Nonetheless, she accomplished what she set out to do.
She fed the child.
She ran herself so wild that her family had no choice but to cooperate, lest they risk her falling into a state of hunger, or get nipped on the ankles by the mutts hiding in the trees. Either way, they cooperated, and for that, she was grateful. Truly.
This child would be the best thing that ever happened to them. She could feel it in her cold heart.
Now, here she sat, with Bella's head resting on her lap.
One second they were talking to each other about nothing at all.
She had to admit that, despite their beginning, she had come to care for the young woman. Her bravery in the face of great odds, whenever she has faced them, had earned her respect. To say nothing of the sacrifice that she was willing to make for the innocent that she carried within her. That single action alone, earned not only her respect, but also her love. She had married her brother. But only now was she her sister.
As she stroked the once vibrant brown head of flowing hair, she took in the girl, her eyes drifting closed. She must have been tired, Rose thought to herself. It was almost time for the birth.
However, as soon as that thought occurred, something, strange began.
Bella started to move. Her eyes still closed, but her body seemed to be on autopilot, as her once straight legs spread wide and her stomach seemed to move.
It was both surreal and Rose immediately chalked it up to another part of the strange existence that was preparing to be born...
Preparing to be born?
Rose moved quickly, yet gracefully.
She moved from under Bella's head, careful every step of the way. Then, she positioned herself between her sister's legs and took a look, as soaked sheets met her sight.
The water was broken. The baby was coming.
She moved forward, checking Bella's pulse, while at the same time thinking to herself that she could have just listened for her heartbeat.
She knew she needed to calm down.
Should she go get Carlisle? Edward?
She knew they would want to be here. No matter how much Edward whined about the baby, she knew that he would want to be there for Bella in her time of need, however Bella was asleep, and the baby was already coming, with seemingly no resistance or pain, seeing as how she could already see the head gliding out like he was swimming.
She instantly marked it down as more oddities that the baby brought and accepted it as if it was natural. There was nothing too spectacular when the little one was involved, no matter what her education gained in multiple areas throughout her long life had led her to believe. Her medical training was useless in the face of what was sure to be a miracle baby.
The way the baby was just gliding on the waves of vaginal juice was able to soothe her tension and calm her mind.
She knew this was not something that she should experience alone.
So, she simply stated, in as calm a voice as possible.
"The baby is coming."
*Shoosh shoosh shoosh swoosh swoosh*
Instantly, in less than 10 seconds every vampire in the house was present in the room.
Even Jasper.
Fortunately, they had taken her advice for once and stocked up on as much blood as possible, so they would have enough, not only for Bella and the baby, but also so they would have enough for themselves, and not have to hunt so close to the time of birth.
Seeing as how the baby came with literally no warning and very silently, it appears their decision was the right one. Experiencing the beauty that is child-birth is something that can be called a worthy memory to hold. Especially, when the child does it in the fashion that this baby is.
"Is it supposed to be like this?" Edward was the first to speak up. The anxiety in his voice clear and apparent. He was clearly weirded out.
Carlisle responded to the question posed to the room. "This is new," his voice carrying its own signs of anxiousness, along with curiosity. "Do you have the venom ready?"
Edward held up the syringe filled with his venom. They were prepared to plunge it directly into the girls heart as soon as the baby was clear. Though originally, they were under the impression that they would be cutting the baby out, not watching it glide out, with way too much style.
They all watched as the head got clear of the opening and the shoulders came right after. Rosalie stepped up and supported the head of the baby as it made its exit. Alice coming up on the side of her, watching with clear fascination. She wasn't the only one clearly fascinated.
"Should we pull?" The excitable pixie asked, as she practically vibrated beside Rose.
Even if the baby was coming smoothly, clearly Alice was having trouble maintaining her patience.
Esme zipped up beside Alice and placed her hands on her arms from behind her. "Have patience Alice dear. Its almost done." She said with a kind smile on her face, that also contained both excitement and curiosity.
"Is anyone going to ask why Bella is asleep? Is she okay?" Emmitt spoke up, noticing something that the rest had only just discovered. This child birth was way too quiet!
"She fell asleep right before the birth began. Its like her body knew what it was about to do, so it got as comfortable as possible...or it could be the babies doing." Rose informed the room, as she gently held the back of the baby as his entire torso was now out, showing what were sure to develop into some ripped-ass abs eventually.
"Anything is possible, really. The amount that we do not know about what is currently happening is far too much for comfort." Carlisle once again gave his professional input. Despite him not actually providing any answers, his calm voice is always reassuring. So reassuring that after he spoke, the room got very silent for a while, as they all just watched, waited, and wondered. Each of their ears focused on the heartbeats of the two blood-pumpers in the room.
"Get ready with the syringe," Rose said. "He's almost completely out." Her hands gently supporting the weight of the baby, as she used a towel that Esme handed to her, making sure every inch of the baby's glorious body was supported.
Only below the knees was left. The tension that was previously forgotten due to how smooth the entire process had been slowly returned as they waited to pounce.
One with a syringe in hand prepared to inject the young woman with venom. Another to watch as the girl was injected with venom to make sure everything went okay. And the rest to look over the shoulders of the three involved to either check on the young woman or the new born prince. Though, to all in the room, they were equally important.
The seconds ticked down. They all waited with baited breath, despite not breathing.
Tick, tick, tick, boom.
The baby was cleared and wrapped in a towel as soon as it slipped free, its umbilical cord severed immediately with a swipe from Rose's nail. As if it were choreographed Rose took a single step back, as Edward zipped forward, needle entering Bella's skin with no resistance, none of them noting the still strong heartbeat due to their urgency and carelessness. Not that it mattered, though they still should have noticed.
Two did, however.
One was the dark brown eyed beauty that held a baby and was looking where the baby was looking, and the other was the divine form of the red-eyed baby that was taking in the sight of his panicking sperm-donor and the woman who had protected his new to the world self and allowed him to step into his new world.
He took it in for a moment, feeling his eyes growing heavy with tiredness from the efforts that he put forth, both for his safety and Bella's.
However, before he allowed his eyes to closed completely, he locked them onto the brown-eyed beauty who held him in her arms, knowing that she would protect his soon to be sexy form until he got them gains and became that mane.
Their eyes met. The world faded away. And he took his nap with the words ringing in his ears as he drifted off.
"Welcome Daddy."
