Bab 10: Chapter 10

Mavka's resistance was expected, her attempts to loosen my hold on her palpable. Our struggle continued, the horde of demons inching closer, their malicious anticipation electrifying the air around us. And amidst the chaos, Mavka's voice carried to my ears, a mixture of annoyance and begrudging admiration. "You can be stubborn, kid," she chided, her acceptance of my determination carrying an unspoken warmth.

As our struggle continued, a shift in the atmosphere heralded a change in the tide. A lightning bolt rent the air, its electric fury arcing toward the demons that had pursued us. In an instant, the demons at the front were reduced to ash, the threat they posed extinguished by nature's fury.

My eyes widened, my heart a chorus of awe and disbelief as I followed the path of the lightning's origin. A woman descended from the heavens, her presence both ethereal and commanding. Ebony tresses framed a face of striking beauty, blue eyes brimming with an air of power. Her attire, a symphony of red and leather, seemed to amplify the enigmatic aura that surrounded her, she had an accessory shaped as a skull on both of her wrists.

The instant Jade's feet touched the ground, her energy propelled her toward Mavka in a rush, her arms outstretched in a fervent embrace. A hug, tight and genuine, bound them together for a moment. "I've missed you so much," Jade exclaimed, her words a testament to the depth of their connection.

Mavka, while somewhat receptive, was quick to push her away, a mix of affection and pragmatism coloring her response. "I haven't been away for an entire day yet. Besides, we don't have time for this," she pointed out, her focus drawn to the demons that lay disoriented around us. Jade's lightning attack had caught them off guard, transforming the demons in the vanguard into nothing more than dust.

However, Jade seemed undeterred, unfazed by Mavka's practicality. She seemed resolute to make the most of this reunion, focusing more on the heart than the immediate danger. Her arms closed around Mavka once more, her hug even tighter this time. "I can't help it," she said, her words a mixture of mirth and sentiment, "It's been far too long."

In the midst of this embrace, the world around us carried on in its chaotic dance. Yet, even as the demons writhed in confusion and the echo of their demise resonated, our reunion managed to carve out a momentary oasis of its own.

Jade's attention shifted toward me, her vibrant blue eyes alighting on my form as if assessing every facet of my being. The intensity of her gaze sent a shiver down my spine, and an inexplicable chill gripped me. In that fleeting span, the atmosphere seemed to thicken, bearing witness to the unspoken exchange between us.

"Is this the offspring of our master?" Jade queried, her voice carrying a mix of curiosity and assertion, as if her words were both an inquiry and a statement.

Mavka's affirmative nod acknowledged her observation. "Yes, he is," Mavka confirmed, a note of pride accompanying her words.

Relinquishing her hold on Mavka, Jade's eyes found mine, an enigmatic scrutiny emanating from her gaze. Her blue eyes, reminiscent of distant skies, held a penetrating quality—a scrutiny that transcended the physical realm and seemed to probe into the essence of my being. It was as if her gaze was capable of unraveling the layers that constituted my very soul. I couldn't help but feel exposed, laid bare under the intensity of her scrutiny.

Jade's observation was not passive; it felt as though her gaze traversed the length and breadth of my existence, unraveling hidden mysteries and secrets that lay dormant within. For a moment, time seemed to still as our gazes locked, a bridge forged between two souls, a connection forged through unspoken recognition.

Then, as quickly as it had begun, Jade released me from the spotlight of her scrutiny. She turned her attention back to Mavka, as if seeking answers to her silent inquiries. "But the madam's offspring appeared frail. Can you elucidate, Mavka?" Her words held a subtle undercurrent, a blend of inquisitiveness and concern.

A pang of offense nudged at my pride, goading me to voice my defense. "I'm not that weak," I retorted instinctively, the words tumbling out before I could temper them with reason.

Mavka intervened before the conversation could escalate. Her voice, calm and measured, filled the space between us. "It was our master's wish for him to assimilate with humans," she began, her tone carrying the weight of responsibility, "My task was to watch over him from the shadows, intervening only when his life was threatened. To my astonishment, he was slain by a formidable demon, only to be resurrected from death itself, rendering him immortal."

The revelation of my immortality hung in the air, casting an air of wonder upon Jade. She shifted her gaze back to me, her initial assessment reshaped by this newfound knowledge. "Immortal?" Her voice resonated with a mixture of astonishment and intrigue, her eyes capturing mine in a moment of shared understanding. "Perhaps he truly can be the one."

As if fate itself conspired against us, the hordes of demons surged forward, their malicious intent unmistakable. In the face of imminent danger, a circle materialized beneath us, its appearance swift and unexpected. My astonishment was palpable; I had never before witnessed such a phenomenon. A mesmerizing shade of blue radiated from the intricate patterns etched within the circle, its luminescence casting an otherworldly aura.

Turning to Mavka, I could not contain my curiosity. "What is this circle?" My words held a mixture of wonder and bewilderment, my gaze seeking her guidance.

"It's a magic circle, conjured by a friend," Mavka replied, her voice a wellspring of assurance.

"Magic circle?, so magic do really exists" I echoed, my inquiry unfolding even as the phenomenon before me gained momentum. The air itself shimmered with an otherworldly resonance, its vibrations rippling through the very essence of my being.
