"Lieutenant General! Lieutenant General!" a cavalry man runs to Grigorev "the elves moved soldiers to the border!" the man quickly reports, as it's an emergency. Grigorev and his staff who are in the tent are shocked as they thought the elves would just watch or send their decision. After some thinking, he tells the cavalry scout while writing the order.
"this my order. The 10th jagers with the 47th and 31st line infantry will orderly treat to the max range of their rifles. What we lose in accuracy, we will make up numbers." he hands the paper to the scout and tells him to deliver it. He looks at his staff and begins giving orders to the staff.
"we have 18 guns and I want them in favorable positions to bombard the enemy. Next we will move the heavy cavalry to each flank while the lights are not to far behind," The lights job isn't to charge the enemy but to kill the enemy when retreating. "Then the army here will move up as well," Grigorev walks out the tent putting on his hat "also get me report of the enemies numbers so I can request reinforcements if needed," The staff behind salute "yes your excellency!" they then scatter to carry out their tasks treating it as an upcoming battle or war.
On the border, the three units who were sent already saw the elves and quickly formed up, but were told not to fire as there is no war and the elves are still in their territory. The officer there soon got the orders and relayed to the others. In a neat formation, all three units retreat 500 meters.
"extend the line to three ranks if possible. If there is still a fourth rank, then so be it," Line infantry officers call out.
"Jagers kneel and scatter in front of the line infantry with 1.5 meters in front of them!" the Jager officer calls out next.
On the elves' side, they momentarily saw the Russians retreating, thinking they were intimidated, but they see them form again and this time out of range of their bows. Unknowingly, some Elven soldiers sighed in. They were the ones who saw the power of the Russian weapons that fateful day, the higher ups thought of sending them since they experienced it before but instead make them more scared since they don't want to be torn to pieces or killed without even touching the enemy,
