[Catherine's POV]

"Pack your things. You're coming with me back to my castle."

". . ."

I think I was hearing things. Did the vampire lord  . . . just invited me to his castle?

Why?

What was going on?

Rhazien raised his head a little and looked down at me through the gap from his nose. His eyes were rubies encased in crystals, taking both my breath and brain away.

"You heard me right," he said, reading my thoughts. "I could no longer remain absent in court. My presence is required for the next meetings. This vacation was short, but it wasn't unpleasant. At least it allowed me days of peace from the old councils nagging."

V-vacation?

Wait. That wasn't important.

Me? Going into the jaws of the vampire kingdom?

"M-my Prince? I don't think Lord Charles would approve me coming to your castle."
