A soft growl brought her back to the present, and she stroked its fur, finding solace in its gentle presence. Devon's beige wolf, Gary sat by her side, its fur fluffed up against the chill. It had followed her, sensing her distress, and now nuzzled her hand with its snout, as if trying to comfort her. It was as if the animal sensed her sorrow and had come to offer what little comfort it could. Leticia smiled wryly, wondering if Devon had any idea his wolf had followed her, or if it had acted on its own instincts. Either way, she was grateful for the companionship.
