Bab 16: Chapter 16 - Lost a Round of Weight

As soon as Chen Jianye entered the house, he saw that his wife was shedding tears, appearing as if she had suffered a great injustice.

He looked at her blankly and asked in a dull voice, "Did mom hit you?"

Although his mother had never really hit her daughters-in-law, angry as she might be, he wondered if she had been pushed to the edge this time.

Li Chunhua shook her head, but tears kept streaming down her face.

Chen Jianye looked at her, utterly perplexed. "Why are you crying then?"

It was quite normal for a daughter-in-law to be scolded by her mother-in-law.

Tears welled up in Li Chunhua's eyes as she cried out, "What's wrong with giving my milk to Xiaobao? That damned girl is getting fatter and fatter, while my poor Xiaobao is so thin. You tell me, how can a mother bear to see this?"

She didn't do anything wrong!

After all, a mere daughter who would marry into another family was nothing compared to a son who would carry on the family line.
