They walked on the vast wilderness. The sun at high noon in late spring was already fierce, and Qian Yixiu felt her head spinning from the heat. But the wildflowers by the roadside were spirited, the delicate stems trampled by her older brother still defiantly bloomed upwards, showing a strong life force. Indeed, without such resilience, they could never bloom in this land.

Even the wild grass here couldn't grow tall, with the tallest only reaching up to Qian Yijin's knees, sparse and patchy. Only along the streams flowing from Xishi Mountain, the grass and wildflowers there were much more lush, with brightly colored petals swaying in the wind. Especially the gypsophila; under the midday sun, they shimmered, truly like tiny white stars scattered across the ground.

The two children hadn't reached their home's threshold when they saw Lady Wu returning from the fields. Their family's land was behind Huaxi Village, at the foot of Jingshan Mountain.
