Ryan stood there watching the other spars while feeling dejected. It didn't help seeing Brian joyful attitude as he speaks about the fights reminding him that he failed.
"Oh, look at that stage. Ain't that the wind element girl that beat me at the arena." Brian said pointing in a direction.
Ryan took a look at the stage he was pointing at and he was right. She was doing her signature move, spamming sword wind blades from the distance.
The academy student she was fighting put up a shield spell and made her effort useless. But it didn't take her long for her to change up her tactics and made all her air blades go in circles around him.
Instead on hitting her opponent she was making a tornado fully out of her wind blades. She just kept slashing away with her sword adding more and more wind blades to the tornado.
After a while it became rather intimidating and the student announced she pass. He wasn't to certain if he could survive it if she made all the wind blades attack at once.
"Sadly she passed." Brian mumbled underneath his breath.
Time slowly went pass and the last spar ended with a fail. Out of around 500 kids only a little less than 150 passed.
"Now that the spar is over, people who pass go over there and people that failed go over there." The city representative pointed in 2 opposite direction.
Ryan said bye to the siblings and walked to the failed side.
"For the failed students its not over just yet for you. You still have a chance to redo your spar if you feel like you deserved to be pass." The city representative look at the kids as there expression changed.
He couldn't help but chuckle a little thinking of there face after his next words.
"Of course if you going to make us waste our time to redo your spar there will be a price to pay. The price to pay is with your life."
All the kids that failed open there eyes wide to the words, even the people that passed was shocked.
"Dont worry it will only be a waste of time if you still fail to pass the spar. So pretty much you can redo your spar again if you feel confident enough in your skill to not fail. Failing this time is death and you have 2 min to walk to a stage to redo your spar." The city lord representative said as he waited patiently for the time to tick down.
Everyone started to whispering to each other debating if they should risk it or not.
Ryan was very tempted at doing the spar again, but he can't think of what he could do differently.
(They all are rank 3 and my element will not be strong enough to show off. My martial arts is trash and.... I can't think of anything else. Maybe I should just wait to rank up and stay fighting in the arenas. Its possible to make enough mana stones to buy a spell or I could buy a uncertitfide spell.)
"One more minute." A combat teacher yelled.
(Yeah, once my rank become higher I could pass this easily but I won't remember what happened during the test. That, that kinda weird to think about. I won't even remember having this conversation with myself either. Wait, that's right once my rank is higher they stand no chance. I am unrivalled in my rank. What if I used that as the reason why I am above average.)
Ryan made up his mind and he was the first person to walk on the stage with 30 seconds left. No one else felt like it was truly worth trying again, they did everything they could do the first time. And they saw the talented people that actually passed, and noticed the gap in between them.
Brian and Elizabeth was shocked by Ryan careless action. There was no good reason to try now instead of waiting next year.
Even the city representative was slightly surprised but only slightly. The 30 seconds ended and the city lord representative started to speak.
"Why do you feel like you should had pass, when you only a rank1 novice. Obviously one of the weakest kids here."
Ryan made sure to keep his core active so people can sense his core. He didn't want to have to explain himself why his core can't be senes. He not sure if it would be a big matter or not. But he rather he be safe than sorry.
"I am unrivalled in my rank and I'm not saying it out of arrogance." Ryan replied, and alot of kids had a disdainful look while looking at Ryan.
"I understand what alot of people thinking but its a fact I can instantly suppress anyone in my rank. If I was in the same rank as the academy student I could suppress them to. It's because of my element and they wouldn't be able to move in front of me." Ryan said with confidence. For some reason he was less nervous even though the consequences of failing is death this time.
It was very quiet for a while until one of the combat teachers spoke. "He willing to risk his life on this, so he must really have faith in what he saying. I think it wouldn't hurt to send a few rank 1 beast at him and by a few I mean 10. If he truly unrivalled in his rank this should be easy for him. If he fails than death."
"Sure, I don't care that's fine." The city lord representative said as he stop paying attention to the whole thing. He was actually very tempted just to kill Ryan for saying something so stupid. You a novice, who cares if you unrivalled in that rank. Fights are very simple in the early ranks.
It didn't take long for them to retrieve the 10 rank 1 beasts because all they did was teleport them there. One of the combat teachers opened the beast cage and used his aura to pick them all up in throw them on the same stage as Ryan.
