The cub was small and fragile looking, it had to be less than 2 months old. The fur was all black but not the abnormaly dark black as the other 2 beast he killed. It's tail was longer than its entire body as it was wrapped around It's self.
The little beast look at ryan with with its curious black ruby eyes. Then curled back up and hid his face in its body.
(Should I kill it, or leave it be. No, I can't leave it alone It's to young to take care of its self. Humm.) Ryan stood there looking at the little beast, debating what he should do with it.
He not heartless, he don't actually have some deep hatred towards beasts. He just killed them to survive and train. The main reason he hesitating to keep the beast, he simply doesn't know if it safe to do.
After around 5 minutes of thinking he made his decision. He slowly crouch down and stuck out his hand to see how it will react.
The little beast didn't react how he expected, it just lifted its head and sniffed his hand. Than it ignored him and curled back up hiding his head.
(I thought it would bite me or try to get away, interesting.)
Ryan attempt to pick it up and it did nothing. It just look back at him with his black eyes now more expressionlessly.
Ryan was surprised how calm it acted and made is decision. He not sure when it's hungry how it will act, but he still decided to take it back with him. It can't do much damage to him, even if it was hostile.
Taking the beast in his arms, he made his way back. He noticed the beast wasn't a fan of the light, that made Ryan think about why his parents always was hunting during the day. He assumed the first beasts that was a rank 2 was its dad and the one he killed today was the mom.
When he made it back he sat the beast down and watched how it react. It just curled up and hid its face into its body. Knowing it doesn't like the light he had covered some of the holes to limit the light coming in.
(Maybe there something dangerous out there during the night, could that be why these beast don't hunt during that time. These beast clearly should be favoring the dark.) That is the only reason Ryan could think of, that could cause them to hunt during the day.
Ryan went about his own business and start cultivating near the beast. Sadly he already used a beast core this month so he can only cultivate with the mana in the air.
Hours went past and Ryan got hungry. He left the hideout to cook some meat and came back. The beast was still in the same spot. Sitting back down he started eating.
It didn't take long for the beast to raise its head and sniffed. It had walked over to him and Ryan put a piece of meat down, to see if it will eat it.
It had started to eat so Ryan put raw meat down next to it, and another cooked piece in a different direction. He was curious to see which one will it eat first.
The beast didn't even finish the cook meat and went straight to the raw meat and start eating. It would be a lie to say that it didn't worry Ryan a little to see it prefer raw meat. He already know that it should had been expected, but he is made up of raw meat too.
(Ima have to see if it will try to eat me when it do get hungry, plus I should probably give it a name too. It's black and it look similar to a cat. hum, midnight don't sound like a bad name.)
Once the beast stop eating it curled back up. Ryan tap it attempting to get its attention before it went back to sleep. The little beast lifted its head and looked at Ryan.
"Do you like the name midnight?" Ryan said to the little beast in a soft tone.
The beast just looked at Ryan a second or 2 than put its head back into its body.
Ryan decided to leave it be and go back to cultivateing.
Ryan stayed cultivating until it was time to fall asleep. He checked up on midnight and left some food out in case it get hungry at night.
Ryan went to sleep and of course he woke up in his dream like always.
"Here! take this, thousand years of death!"
Ryan vision cleared up hearing the TV in the background.
(That reminds me, i need to name more of my moves. Even though I have no spells or martial skill yet but i think it be fine to make my own. No one have to know I am just using my aura to preform the moves now that I think about it.)
Ryan spent most of the dream watching TV and playing. He woke up and the first thing he checked was midnight.
Seeing him curled up where he left the food had surprised him a little. It wasn't surprising that he ate the food, it surprising how much it ate. He fed him when it got here and it ate right before it had came with Ryan.
Even though he was surprise, Ryan didn't really care. He just pulled out the rest of the beast meat it been eating and started his normal routine.
Once Ryan got done with training he came back to sit and cultivate next to midnight that was curled up.
"Are you okay all you do is sleep and eat. Is that normal for cubs like you." Ryan said to the beast like it could hear him, not actually expecting a response.
"I bout to name my fighting moves, let me know if you like them. How the sword of suppression sounds. I think it's a nice name too and all but I rarely get to say it in a fight sadly."
"The moves i normally use is with my aura, like when I make my sword heavier. What do you think I should name it. Heavy slash, boulder crush, heavy sword, slash suppression."
"Yeah, I can't use slash suppression. It sounds to similar to sword of suppression. How about mountain slash. Its like im slashing a mountain on you from the weight of my sword. Of course my sword not that heavy now, but it may be in the future."
"I like to use my aura on my body to make me stronger but that is not unique. Every one can do that. Making my self lighter, not anyone can do that. I can make it into a movement skill and I know the perfect name, cloud steps.
"How do the name sound to you midnight." Ryan looking down at the little beast as he asked him.
"You probably right, it doesn't really sound that cool. Plus I may of heard it somewhere, it sounds familiar. Ima just call it floating steps because one day I may be able to make myself weigh so little to walk in the air."
"I should probably name the move when I make other people heavier too. That's the move i used on your mom." Ryan said glancing down looking for a reaction.
"Let's see.... wow, i can't think of anything that even sounds remotely okay."
After 10 minutes of trying to come up with a name, Ryan got tired of thinking and went back to concentrating on cultivating.
His mana eventually had recovered from training and he left to go hunting. With another mouth to feed he made sure to collect the beasts he killed.
(Hum, I wonder if I can give midnight beast cores.)
2 weeks later
Ryan was creeping up to this tree that have fruits on it. This the first time he came across something like this and he know these fruits are not simple. He can sense a dense amount of mana inside the fruit, but that is the problem.
If Ryan can sense it than others beasts should be able to too. But none of the fruits got pick.
Ryan was on guard as he slowly made his way. The tree wasn't even large, with a little hop Ryan could grab the fruit from the tree.
Once he made it to the tree, he did exactly that and grab one. He was ready to react to anything after he grabbed it but nothing happened. Putting it away in his ring Ryan grabbed another one. Still nothing happened, so Ryan wasted no time and picked all of them and immediately left.
He assumed there could be only a few reasons why no beast took the fruits yet. 1 the fruits is poisonous. 2 there a strong beast guarding it and won't let other beast take it. 3 which ryan highly doubt, no one found the tree before.
Ryan had been exploring more of the areas, he been preparing to leave this forest. He trying to see if he can find something that will tell him it's a good direction to travel in.
This direction will be off limits for traveling, he have a feeling he was lucky today. There probably a high rank beast guarding the tree or just so happens to live near it.
Either way it better to stay away from an area you stole from. There only one more direction to travel in and he plan on doing that tomorrow.
Ryan eventually made it back to the hideout and midnight came walking up to him. A few days ago midnight stop sleeping to much and started to move around.
"Here you go midnight, i know what you are coming for." and pulled out a beast for it to eat.
Ryan did do some testing and found out he won't bite him even when he hungry. But he did get bit before. Ryan made a small cut on his hand to see if it will bite it and it did.
Surprisingly it was smart enough to understand that he shouldn't bite so after the first time he never bit Ryan again. Even when he injured himself like last time.
