Bab 42: Breaking Point

"So...um, are you alright?" Dad tapped his hand on my bedside table, his voice uncertain. I wasn't sure why he was suddenly checking on me, but I suspected Mom had put him up to it. She was still too much of a coward to talk to me on a human level.

"Sure, Dad. I'm fine," I replied sarcastically. It was the day after the big blow-up with Ron, and my parents knew what had happened because the Dean had called them. It didn't matter, though, because when I sat to face Ron, they weren't there.

Didn't they find it sad that that creep had a father who would cry and apologize for him, even though he did wrong, yet my parents couldn't even look me in the eye half the time?

"Is there anything you might need?" Dad asked, trying to be helpful.

"No."

"Why?"

"What do you mean, why? I'm fine. Nothing happened." I just wanted him to get out of my room for now.
