Bab 9: delicious

"That bitch!" Lilith spat, as she made her way towards her ensuite bathroom, removing the ripped and blood-stained clothes she was sporting.

Blake lied on her bed, arms propped under his head, looking at the ceiling. "It is kind of your fault," he said, humour clear on his voice but the redhead did not find it amusing. She peeked her head out of the bathroom and shot him a glare with brows furrowed together in annoyance and her nostrils flared. "You're taking her side?!" she shouted, disbelief evident in her voice.

Blake shrugged, and he opened his mouth to reply, but a voice interrupted him. "You did, in a way you called her parents stupid," Aldren spoke from the entrance, causing Blake to chuckle in his spot watching the siblings exchange. Lilith slammed the bathroom door closed with a thud, "Both of you are taking her side!" she spat from inside the bathroom. Her voice clear as day thanks to their heightened senses.

Aldren rolled his eyes; his sister had always been the drama queen. He had spoiled her rotten over the centuries, always getting what she wanted. "I'm not taking any side. But, dear sister, don't ever do that. EVER." Aldren warned, his tone grave serious. And they knew it was something they cannot break unless they were willing to face his wrath.

He turned to look at Blake, "The same thing with you. I need her alive." He said firmly, earning a nod of understanding from the blond. Satisfied, Aldren walked out of the room.

...

Still in pain, knees weak but strong enough to stand, Violet looked at herself in the mirror, blood was in the corner of her mouth. She turned the faucet on and washed her mouth, spitting the blood tinged water after.

She just had one of her worst episodes of myocardial infarction. Ordinary men would have died, but she was far from ordinary, after all. The attack was the result of her excessive use of magic with a still-recovering body. The energy that surged through her veins was too strong for her body to hold.

She bent towards the faucet and took a couple of gulps. The cold liquid running down her burning throat brought a sense of relief to her, and she wondered for a moment how she would make her escape. Clearly, she wasn't in her best condition to run for it; she could barely stand. And even if by some miracle she was able to escape, she'd still be exposed to the dangers of the world. Based on her unlucky streak, the probability of her coming across members of the Guardians of purity was high. And unlike the Abomination who was keeping her alive at the moment, for only the spirits know why. They wouldn't waste time ending her on the spot. So, she knew she needed to be smart, being reckless only leads to death, and she promised her mother she would live.

She stepped out minutes later, noticing the door was open. And she wondered if she left it that way or did someone enter? No matter, it made no difference either way. Violet turned when she noticed something move on her left; she walked towards it, finding a bedroom and on the creamy white king-sized bed was no other than the Abomination himself.

His eyes trained on her, legs crossed as he watched her.

"Your heart is pounding." He said, hearing it clearly.

"That's because I'm mad," she answered bluntly, as she fished a small potion bottle out of her pocket and sniffed it. "What's that?" he asked, eyes narrowed. "Lavender extract, it helps to calm me down," she said, putting it back in her pocket. Unbeknownst to him, it wasn't just the scientific fact that lavender scent had a calming effect, but to her, it was mostly that it reminded her of her mother.

Her mother, in her memory, always wore a silver locket with dragonfly design around her neck, and in it was lavender. And every time Violet smelt that scent it brought her back to the happier years of her life. When she would cuddle with her, and she'd recall how her hugs felt warm as the sun.

She grabbed a seat to rest when in the corner of her eye, she noticed food on the bedside table. "Is this for me?' she asked, hungry. She doesn't know how long she had been unconscious, but she was sure that her body needed sustenance to recover. "Yes." He said, noticing the way she was looking at the plate. It had small sandwiches, raspberries and some chocolate truffles. Beside it, was a glass of fruit smoothie with a fancy umbrella on it.

The brunet graciously handed it to her, seeing as the woman was having trouble moving the second she sat. Violet took it and indulged herself. Food was food, even if it belonged to a vampire. "This is delicious," she said, chewing the sandwich causing the corner of Aldren's lips to curl upwards.

"I'll send your compliments to the chef" he answered casually, as he watched her eat. Pain is still apparent on her face. He could tell, her heart had stopped beating a few times, only to beat again a second later while she sat there. She did not speak, nor did she complain, Aldren noticed. Plus he wasn't that concerned either, she seemed used to it based on her reaction. This wasn't the first time that her heart gave up on her.

"When are you gonna kill me?" she asked him after finishing her sandwich. He arched a brow at her and said, "we'll I haven't decided that yet, darling."

She hummed, "I see. How long are you planning to keep me here?" she asked.

"As long as it takes." He said, turning to look at her, and she wondered what he meant by that. However, she didn't dare to ask.

Violet placed the glass back on the table after finishing it,

"You do realize I'm going to escape, right?" she said.

"No, you won't." He replied, then the corner of his lips broke into a smug grin.

"But you can try."

"Although, I wouldn't if I were you, I've been told I have anger issues." He added, eyes trained on hers in an attempt to either frighten her or warn her.

"I don't care." she shot back, leaning back comfortably on the chair.

Aldren snorted, "Suit yourself, darling. I'll kill everyone you know." He said, just like that. No holds bar, and his statement was a promise.
