Xia Qingxue stirred awake, her delicate lashes trembling as she opened her eyes. A lush valley greeted her, shrouded in soft morning mist.

The sound of someone clearing their throat broke through their conversation. Startled, the two women turned to find a familiar figure standing nearby. His dark eyes and handsome face were unmistakable.
"Su Chen!"
"Y-Young Master!" Xia Qingxue's voice cracked with joy as she called out, while Xiao Ruoyu's surprise quickly morphed into relief.
"Hmm." Su Chen nodded, a slight smile tugging at his lips. "It's good that both of you are safe."
At those words, Xiao Ruoyu exhaled deeply, the tension in her chest loosening. The shadow of the earlier crisis faded; she could only assume that the vile Chu Yang had been dealt with.
"Young Master, was it you who saved us?" Xia Qingxue gazed up at him, her eyes brimming with admiration and affection.
"Yes," Su Chen replied casually, his tone as if he'd done nothing extraordinary.
"You're amazing!" Xia Qingxue's cheeks flushed with admiration. "You found us so quickly… you always make me feel safe."
A gentle smile curled Su Chen's lips. "My women are my responsibility to protect."
His simple statement warmed Xia Qingxue's heart, leaving her cheeks a deeper shade of pink. She bit her lower lip shyly, her eyes glistening with love.
However, Xiao Ruoyu's reaction was different. The moment she heard "my women", her chest tightened. A twinge of sourness spread through her heart.

She was not among them, was she?
Looking at Xia Qingxue, safely nestled in Su Chen's care, Xiao Ruoyu felt a mix of joy for her close friend and a bitter ache she couldn't name. She scolded herself internally. Why feel this way? Qingxue deserves happiness.
"Thank you, Young master." Xia Qingxue's voice interrupted her thoughts. Without warning, she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Su Chen's lips, her gratitude overflowing.
Caught off guard, Su Chen blinked, then smirked. He pulled her closer, deepening the kiss.
Xia Qingxue's body trembled as his hand casually wandered upward. "Mmm…"
When they finally parted, both were breathless, their gazes locked in mutual affection.
Standing aside, Xiao Ruoyu felt her face flush at the intimacy unfolding before her. She averted her gaze, clenching her hands into fists to suppress her emotions.
"Don't mind me. I'll leave you two to… whatever this is," Xiao Ruoyu muttered, turning away.
But as soon as she took a step, her legs gave out.
"Careful!"
Su Chen caught her just in time, his arms steady as they pulled her against his chest.
"Are you alright?" His deep voice carried genuine concern.
"I-I'm fine. Thank you," Xiao Ruoyu stammered, her face reddening as she found herself cradled in his arms. His scent, faintly tinged with sandalwood, enveloped her, making her heart race.
"Hold still," Su Chen commanded, his tone firm.
Before she could protest, Su Chen produced a black pill from his sleeve and pressed it lightly against her soft lips.
"This…" Xiao Ruoyu blinked, confused but unable to refuse. She obediently parted her lips and swallowed the pill.
Moments later, warmth spread through her body. The searing pain in her injuries dulled, replaced by a soothing vitality coursing through her veins.
"Was that a… Heavenly Spirit Pill?" she asked, astonished.
Su Chen nodded nonchalantly. "It's an excellent healing remedy. Your injuries should heal quickly now."
Her heart trembled. The Heavenly Spirit Pill was a rare treasure, priceless even among the wealthy and powerful. She never imagined Su Chen would give it to her so casually.
"T-thank you," Xiao Ruoyu murmured, her voice soft, her cheeks tinged with pink.
"There's no need to thank me," Su Chen replied, waving her gratitude away. "Just remember the promise we made."

Xiao Ruoyu's eyes widened, her heart pounding uncontrollably. She bit her lip, trying to suppress the strange fluster in her chest.
"W-who made any promise with you?" she stammered, her face burning as she averted her gaze.
Ignoring her protest, Su Chen reached for her hand, smirking mischievously. "No one has ever dared break a promise with me."
"You shameless rogue!" Xiao Ruoyu glared at him but didn't resist as he scooped her up effortlessly.
"Let's head home." With one arm holding Xia Qingxue and the other carrying Xiao Ruoyu, Su Chen leapt into the air, their figures soaring toward Su Manor.
"Ah! Put me down!" Xiao Ruoyu struggled, her protests only making Su Chen chuckle.
"Ruoyu-jiejie, you're wasting your energy," Xia Qingxue teased, grinning. "But tell me, what was that promise you made with Young master?"
"N-none of your business!" Xiao Ruoyu snapped, doing her best to maintain a composed, elder-sisterly tone.
"Fine, don't tell me. I'll figure it out eventually," Xia Qingxue replied with a playful wink.
Xiao Ruoyu groaned inwardly, her cheeks burning hotter.
