Steph hung up and walked out of her house after she made sure her mom wouldn't be suspicious.
"Mr. Adult, what are you doing here?" She folded her arms, and he chuckled. "What?" Her tone was filled with irritation.
"You are so cute when angry."
"All kids are cute, so why should I be different?"
"I shouldn't have abandoned you there alone; just if I hadn't shown up, then Mr. Xu wouldn't have spared me," he lied so abruptly, and Steph sneered.
"You told me not to contact him; it's like you wanted to be the one who saved Grace."
"That's not it," he thought for a while, trying to form the best excuse.
"I was assigned to protect Grace, but I went out with you and ignored her, so I wanted to find her without alerting Mr. Xu. I mean, look at my state," he said, showing her his hand, and she scoffed.
"That's a small injury."
"Well, if she was hurt, then he would have done worse."
Steph frowned "Is he that type of person?"
