A Painful Past
"I want to meet your rival and best friend, Diego," Kai said, curiosity piqued.
Larry's expression turned conflicted, and he hesitated before speaking. "Too bad he's already dead."
The room fell silent, as if the air had been sucked out of it. Kai's eyes widened in shock. "How did he die?"
Larry's gaze drifted into the distance, his voice barely above a whisper. "He always had a weak body... wasn't going to live long."
But Kai sensed a darker truth. Larry's killing intent was palpable, making the air thick and heavy. Everyone in the room seemed to be suffocating.
Just then, Lady Zephyr, the King of Wind Dijin, appeared and smacked Larry on the head. "Stop it, Larry! Look around you!"
Larry apologized, his expression softening. "My friend Diego... his twin brother, Abel, killed him."
The room erupted into gasps and whispers. Kai's eyes locked onto Larry's, demanding an answer. "Why did he do that?"
Larry's face twisted in anger. "Jealousy. Abel was always jealous of Diego's talent and our friendship. He couldn't accept that Diego was surpassing him, even with his own strength."
The tension in the room was palpable, and Kai sensed that there was more to the story. He was determined to uncover the truth about Diego's tragic past
Ace, Larry's nephew, spoke up, "Mom never told me that story."
Kai turned to Ace, "How is your mom related to this story?"
Larry's expression turned solemn. "Ace's mom, Maria, is the sister of Abel and Diego."
Kai and Zach exchanged shocked glances, unaware of this connection.
Larry continued, "Abel was always jealous of Diego, saying he never got recognition from their parents. But Diego always respected and loved his brother. I think their relationship got worse when it was time to choose their weapons. Their dad purchased the legendary weapons created by Alexander Arkhenius in an auction. He got the Chrono Sword and the Gravity Fury Spear. When Abel tried to grab the Chrono Sword, it rejected him and went to Diego. Their parents were excited for him, but they forgot about Abel. He took the spear and ran off, mad. Ever since that day, they stopped talking. Plus, we both had a crush on Lana, our teammate..."
The room fell silent again, the weight of Larry's words hanging in the air. The story was far from over, and Kai sensed that there were more secrets waiting to be revealed.
