Irina had left for England, so Issei's parents had told him one morning. His closest friend had left for Europe without saying goodbye, which saddened the boy. He even held a little bit of resentment inside. However, he was still a little boy, so he would forget it quickly.
Issei's mother couldn't bear to see her son so sad, so she sent him to the park to play with the other children in the neighbourhood. Reluctantly, Issei obeyed his mother. And off he went to play. In the end, his mother was right. In the end, nothing lasts forever, and sooner or later Issei had to make new friends.
Playing in the park, he managed to forget his friend, if only for a few hours. The adrenaline of playing had been so high that he didn't notice that it was already dark. As soon as he noticed that "little" detail, Issei ran back home.
"I'm home."
Issei entered slowly and stealthily as if to avoid her mother's scolding. He was afraid, no one wanted to see an angry housewife.
For some reason, the lights in the house were off. It wasn't normal, it was already dark and his parents should be ready for dinner.
"Maybe they've gone out looking for me, I've taken too long to come home."
Issei reasoned correctly, though it was odd that they hadn't gone looking for him much earlier. The other children's parents had done that.
The house had a strange smell, Issei had smelled something similar on the school fences. It smelled like steel or iron. Well, they're basically the same. The smell became more intense the further he went into the house.
He didn't expect what he would find in the living room.
A huge pool of blood covered the living room floor. No, it was actually two huge pools that had joined together. On the floor were the bodies of Issei's parents. The father's body was hugging the mother as if he was protecting her from something.
Issei was so shocked that he couldn't react. The situation overwhelmed him. The boy was still in elementary school, and his friend's departure alone had left him depressed. But this was on a completely different level from his friend's departure.
Issei swallowed hard.
His parents had been killed.
Issei's body began to tremble. He heard footsteps coming from behind him.
"So you're the new reincarnation of that guy... but you're nothing but a brat."
Issei turned to face the voice. It was a tall man wearing white robes. In his hand, he carried a spear made of silver.
"Tch... there's no honour in killing a child, but my lord would be in trouble if he ever confronted you. It's nothing personal, boy. The mere fact that you are the reincarnation of that man is your curse."
Without mercy, the man pierced the boy's heart. Issei could do nothing but fall limp on the ground, feeling his life slipping away. All he could think of was one question.
Why me?
Why me?
Why my parents?
What have we done to deserve this?
"I... don't... want... to... die..."
Issei muttered as he spat blood.
He looked into the eyes of the assassin, who was staring at him coldly. An uncontrolled rage surged up from within him, making him feel his vitality returning.
"It can't be! He shouldn't have awakened this soon!"
The assassin screamed in shock, as his face turned pale. Dark energy began to emanate from Issei, enveloping him completely. The assassin prepared to attack Issei once more, as fast as possible. However, a strong pressure brought him to his knees.
The ground began to shake, cracks appeared in the walls and floor of Issei's parents' house.
The boy looked up. His eyes were no longer a light brown colour but had changed to a bright golden hue. The beautiful eyes stood out in the darkness emanating from Issei.
[What an interesting container]
Issei was surprised to hear a voice in his head. Strangely, he didn't feel fear, but a sense of relief.
[I didn't think I would be able to contact you so soon... no, maybe I shouldn't even have been able to contact you. It's rare to see an ordinary human with this potential].
Who are you?
[I am the being who spread terror throughout the realms. The one who needed all the factions of the Bible to unite so that they could wipe me out. I am one of the Celestial Dragons, the one who stole the principles of Domination from the God of the Bible. My name is Ddraig, and I bear the title of the Sekyruutei].
Ddraig?
[You are dying boy, and I find you interesting enough not to let you die. Your heart has been completely destroyed, and you are only kept alive by this strange energy].
...
[Tell me, do you want to become a dragon?]
The first chapter that I write in a while. Sorry if it's too short or if there are any mistakes (feel free to point them out). I lost motivation with my others stories these past months, and I think this one is bringing me back.
I'm happy coming back here! Hope that is going to last long.
