"Hello," came a sleepy voice.
"Maya? Where are you?"
"Home. Why? What happened?" The ex-soldier was alert.
"Stay where you are till I reach, please. I have someone injured with me, and he has some information which leads us to believe you are in danger. Do not let anyone in."
"All right," Maya said and disconnected.
Jags smiled at Adi.
Adi stared at her, bewildered. "Maya is here?"
She nodded. "Will you be able to walk for a few minutes?" she asked anxiously. "I've got a car, but we have to make it down the stairs."
"Of course," Adi said, getting to his feet. He swayed dangerously but Jags caught him.
"Easy, Adi," she said gently, pushing him back on the seat. She relieved one of the collapsed goons of his shoes and put Adi's feet in them.
"It's just for a few minutes, darling," she promised when he made a disgusted face at the footwear. "I'll get you proper ones as soon as we get home."
