Those students who excel in all subjects and have an average of 90 in all subjects are automatically in in the Class A. There are 5 sections and each section having an average to maintain and some are promoted to Class A if they reach the 90 overall average. Others are demoted if they could not maintain the average.
5 Years Later
She stirred to life when the light from the sun hits her eyes. She yawns and stretches her arms to fully wake her sleepy head. She looked at the clock and its 6:30 AM. She still got time to fix herself and be prepared for school. School is not something I'm excited about.
She lazily got up from bed and went to do her long morning ritual. After fixing herself in the mirror and making sure she's beautiful from head to toe, she went downstairs to be met by her loving mother.
"Emerald, have some breakfast before you go to school." Her mom smiled at her and guided her to the kitchen.
The smell of toast and pancakes made her hungry and seated to the vacant seat in front of his father, who was reading a newspaper. She grabbed a pancake and put it on her plate. Her mom gave her some apple juice and seated beside her father. Where's my brother?
"So Emerald, are you ready for your speech?" His dad asked to her when she was about to have a bite on her pancake. She looked at her dad who was still looking and reading the newspaper. It's one of the reasons why I don't like this school.
"I'm not giving my speech today."
Her mom and dad stop from whatever they're doing when she said that. It's like dropping an atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki again. Her dad looked at her with a knotted forehead, as if not believing what she just said and her mom looked at her with sad eyes but sooner gave her an understanding smile.
"Why not? It's the first day of school and—" her dad sighed and lean on his seat. He immediately understood the problem. "Your brother gave a speech on his first day of school, Emerald. Why can't you?" I am not like my brother. She wanted to say but she just keeps her head low and still tries so hard to be understanding.
Her father always taught them to be a leader or a winner and never a loser. She doesn't hate his father because it's not all the time that he's like this. It's just when it comes to school, she and her brother should excel at almost anything, take note, anything. Her brother, on the other hand, was born to be a leader and the soon to be heir of their chains of companies and hotels which she barely lost count.
She got no problem with that but the one thing that's bothering her is that she should follow her brother's footsteps which is kind of impossible now because she can't even give a damn speech. Urgh, I'm gonna hate that person who stole my speech.
"Honey, she's trying her best. Just give it a rest okay? It's just a speech. She can do more next time." Her mother reassured her father and just relaxes on his seat. "Besides, she was always the top student these past few years." He smiled to Emerald and held her hand on the table.
"I'm sorry Emerald. I just want you to do your best. There's a lot of opportunity next time." She just nodded and smiled to her father.
She then ate her now cold pancake and just took a small bite on it. I already lost my appetite.
She's rich and can have whatever she wanted with just a snap of her fingers. Her father owns a lot of business that she barely counts or gives a care about but they're mostly known because of their chains of 5 star hotels around the world. It's my brother's job soon and he'll have it. I'll just have a small part on the company and help him. But still her father wanted them both to collaborate for their business that's why she still needs to excel on her studies even if she's still in high school.
She's a senior high school student of an elite school. By elite, it means only the rich and well-known sons and daughters of politicians, famous professionals and business tycoons can get in and have more advanced studies. They'll have more difficult lessons and some can get in on the school by passing a difficult entrance exam. All of the high school students should take the said exam to prove their potential and whoever gets the highest score, can give a speech on the first day of school. She was the consistent top 1, not until today.
She did her best to prove her abilities to her parents but unfortunately there's this someone who ruined her senior years. She only got the 2nd place by .20 difference of the 1st place. Only damn .20!
She excused herself on the table and wanted to go to school before the time so she can see that person who stole her supposed to be speech. When she arrived on the school, there were a lot of students already and some stopped when she gets out of her car. She smiled on her driver and gave him an instruction of fetching her early later this afternoon after class.
She walked inside the luxurious school vicinity and heard other students' gossips about her. How can they not notice her? She's beautiful because her mom is a model and a fashion designer on her young years and his dad is of course handsome. Everybody knew her since the day she was born because she is the only daughter of the Sandejas. I would be called adopted if I'm not that beautiful.
"She's so pretty"
"I wish I could be her friend"
"Her brother is so handsome!"
"She only got the 2nd place this year. She's the consistent top 1 since she entered this school but someone took her place. I heard it's a boy."
She tried to relax herself upon hearing it. So it's a boy? I'm sure it's a transfer student. Nobody could beat her until this day.
She walked to her brother's office which is the Student Council Government. Her brother is a college student of the same school. This school also has a college courses for the elite students. She knocked on the door and entered when she heard a faint come in.
"You left the house early." She said as she stood in front of her brother who was sitting on the swivel chair and face busy on some papers. Her brother then looked at her without any emotions.
"I didn't go home last night," her brother leaned on his seat and looked at Emerald. He's more becoming like dad. "I stayed on my condominium." Her brother continued and drank the coffee on his table.
Her brother have a condominium just a building away from the school. This school also has some condominiums for the students who wish to live close to the school. Basically, this school almost has everything you wanted. It also has a mall and other recreational place.
"I know you heard the news—"
"I'm expecting you to be the next Student President Emerald." Her brother directly said at her. Yup, he's almost perfect that he's also the student council president of this college. She tried so hard not to roll her eyes in front of her brother.
"I know. I pretty much have a dad already to say that to me." Her brother relaxes and stood up to his seat and walked towards her.
"You know why we should try so hard right?" She looked on her brother's table and saw her brother's name and position. Ethan James Sandejas. Student Council President.
"Because of dad's competitors," she stated in a matter of fact way and shrugged her shoulders like she's been told about this since the day she could even walk. "Can I just have my brother now?" She cutely pouted and whined in front of her brother. She gave her adorable big doe eyes and batted her long eye lashes. Her brother laughed at her silly attempt of being cute which always worked anyway.
"In this life Emerald, there are no ups or downs. It's always up." She smiled and beamed at her brother.
She knew that having this luxurious life, there's always sacrifices. On her part, she should do her best to not embarrass her family's reputation.
"Don't forget to have fun in school." Her brother's last reminder and patted her head.
"I know. I should get going. I need to know that boy's name." Her brother laughed at her and waved goodbye.
She then went inside the gym and sat down in front to clearly see that 1st placer who will give a speech. Most of the students are already inside the gym and waited for the ceremony to start. It's only the high school students' ceremony to commemorate the first day of school and to give the school rules to be followed. It's always like this on every first day of school for other transfer students.
When the ceremony started, she barely listened to the host of the event. Some of the stockholders were present and are seated in front. She was in deep thoughts when the host finally announces the 1st placer's name who will give a welcoming speech for this year.
Everybody waited for that someone to stand up and walk to the stage but to everyone's dismay, no one stood up to give the speech. Emerald looked around and knotted her forehead when the place got louder because of gossips and questions about where is that boy who will give the speech.
"Uhm, Jaden Sky Samaniego? Please stand up to give the speech."
So that's his name. Still nobody stood up and that person seems to be not present for the welcoming event. Seriously, this guy took my place and now he's not even present to give his speech?! He's getting on my nerves! He's irresponsible and juvenile! How this guy could take my place?
Emerald's getting pretty annoyed, because the 1st place that she wanted so much was only wasted by that Jaden guy who was not even present to at least respect the ceremony. The host only read the supposed to be speech by that "Jaden" since he was not around and welcomed the new and old students to this school year. Then they went on to their respective classrooms.
Her classroom was not that hard to find because she's always on the Class A. Those students who excel in all subjects and have an average of 90 in all subjects are automatically in in the Class A. There are 5 sections and each section having an average to maintain and some are promoted to Class A if they reach the 90 overall average. Others are demoted if they could not maintain the average.
She seated close to the window so she could only have one seatmate. She doesn't have a lot of friends because she knew that most of them only wanted her fame and money. All are rich but not rich enough to be like her.
"Jaden Sky Samaniego, I'm gonna bring you down."
