Bab 289: Chapter 289

He could feel his aching muscles, tired bones, and weakened legs as he walked along the long, empty hallways. He had to admit he was not getting any younger.

He looked around at the memoirs surrounding the palace, reminiscing the past he would soon forget. Then, he thought of the future that he might not have the chance to see.

"Are you ok, Sir?" His assistant suddenly asked as he stood behind him. "Do you need anything, Sir?" He continued.

The Count snapped out of his trance, gazing at his assistant with a confused look on his young face. He realized that he had been staring at a portrait of his late wife for far too long.

"Of course I am." He answered his assistant as he continued to walk toward his office. "Have you seen the King? Has he returned?"

He could not believe that he was losing control of his son. He did not know where the King had been going these last few days.
