Her eyes focused on the view outside the window, avoiding looking his way. She did not enjoy looking at the pain in his eyes. She did not want to remember more of their past, afraid that she would drown in her memories and her sorrow.
Yes, she still loved him, but it was a feeling that she had to suppress because it had no future. It had no significance in the present. It should remain in the past. But she guessed burying it did not work because somehow it found its way back to the surface.
"Excuse me." Another phone ringing interrupted them, but this time it was not hers.
Lance took out his phone and answered it. "Mmm!" He mumbled as he listened to the line. "Ok!" He finally said before ending the call. "I am sorry about that. That was my security. They had a flat tire." He said as if that was not a big deal.
