Bab 5: The Escape Pt.3

I gasped as I opened my eyes, looking around frantically. The last time I was awake, I was hit by something but now...It didn't feel as if I was hit at all. I looked around, confused. I was back at Eithcanta...It was bright and vibrant. Just like how it looked before we were attacked. I tried to walk around but it felt as if my feet had been super glued to the ground. I flinched when I heard a voice...a familiar one. I tried to call out the name that belonged to the voice but I quickly figured out that I wasn't able to say anything either.

"Lena..this is what I want you to do when they come. I want you to hide. Don't come out until it's completely silent." My father said as he walked out of a tent, the voice belonging to him. My heart stopped as I realized what this was. It was the day before the attack.

"Father, this isn't like you! I thought that you'd be the first to tell me to fight for our people!" Past me argued before stomping away. My eyes widened as the man turned around. His eyes...they were different than the color they were the day before....a familiar light glossy grey. My eyes slowly fluttered open. Loud yelling filled my ears. Was that just a dream, or was it a memory? It was an out of body experience. I could feel as blood dripped down my forehead.

"Why did you hit her?!"

"You should be thanking me! She figured us out!"

"Thank you?! You hit her in the head with a metal pipe! Did you forget that I need her!? She belongs to me, you have no right!"

"Shut up already! I already allowed you to bring that hell spawn in here and now you expect me to just allow her to go on a rampage and eat me and Oliver whenever she gets fucking mad?!"

"Don't pretend as if I'm here because you allowed me to. We both know that you are doing all of this because you don't want me to kill 'him'."

"You little-" The conversation was cut short as a crisp smack sound filled the air. It was difficult to open my eyes all of the way but I could see as mistress fell to the ground, holding her now red cheek.

"Shut the hell up. You know what? I'm tired of your shit. Why don't I show you the pain that she probably went through when you hit her, hm?" Oliver asked as he picked up the pole, slowly approaching the scared woman as she backed away. Was this even Oliver? I didn't know anymore.

"O-Oliver?" I asked slowly, causing the man to stop in his tracks. He dropped the pole and went to my side, kneeling down in front of her. I saw that blue began to spiral with his grey eyes.

"Lena? A-Are you alright? Im so sorry that I let that happen to you. D-Don't worry though! I'll take care of it, okay?" He asked in a frantic manner. He had a crazy look in his eyes. I simply stared at him in disbelief.

"...Have you been lying to me this entire time? Tricking me into trusting you?" I asked softly. It was a genuine question. If Oliver said no, I might have forgiven him but instead he flinched, his gaze falling to the floor.

"I...I'm sorry.." He whispered out, biting down on his bottom lip. I could only scoff weakly.

"Seriously....are you even blind?" I asked quietly. It was hard to keep my voice from shaking and my eyes burned as tears threatened to fall.

"Well....It's-..It's complicated..I-"

"Stop it...just stop it. It's clear that I can't trust a word that comes out of your mouth. I'm leaving. Don't try to follow me and if you even thinking about trying to justify yourself, just don't." I said as shoved him away from me and stood up, staggering a bit. It was painful, and not only physically. I made my way out of the room and went back to my own. I put the bags of coins into my larger bag grabbed my sword, and walked down stairs, helping myself to some food for the road. I was right after all. All humans were horrible. I rubbed my eyes aggressively to wipe away the tears before taking a deep breath.

"I guess I'm on my own again. At least you are here dad..." I whispered out as held the sword close to me. I moved to the stables and binded my chest with the bandages that I had packed in my bag before stealing a horse. There was no time to be sad. I was the only one to blame for not seeing the signs sooner. I should've known that I was being used purely from the fact that he was a human. A part of my wondered what he would've said if I gave him the opportunity to explain himself but...the past is in the past. What happened happened and there was absolutely nothing that I could do about it.

"Im strong...Im brave...I can do this.." I mumbled out to myself as I set up a saddle before getting on and leaving. I didn't bother looking back. It wouldn't do my any good to have any regrets about leaving. In all honesty, I hoped that I never saw Oliver again. Not only was he a emotional weight, but he was untrustworthy and obviously aggressive, considering the way he had treated mistress. They were obviously both in it together. I expected that kind of thing from her but from Oliver? The devastated expression that he had on his face before I left flashed in my head. There was a sharp pain in my chest but I ignored it. It was about to be a long journey and I was ready for whatever life decided to throw my way. Luckily there was no need for a map since the path was pretty straight forward.
