Tension.
Very thick, palpable tension. It thickened the air inside the main assembly hall, and Spheris stood at the front of it all. His shadows had veiled everywhere, writhing around like snakes.
Morrigan was clasped tightly in front of him, his body frozen in fear, eyes wide and fixed on Lord Daligarth in desperation.
Silence. Ever dreadful silence was dominant in the vast hall. Eyes were plastered at the display before them, hearts were pounding, breaths were hitched, minds were in disarray.
What the actual Hell was happening?
Why was Spheris Arnadel doing this? Of course that was what most of them were asking. For the very few, such as Daligarth, Morrigan and the other staff, they knew exactly what was driving this desperate act of rebellion from the Heathian.
Kohan, Lirael and Jared, even though not knowing what it was, suspected that there was a reason behind this. One good enough to make the reserved Spheris go berserk.
