Bella didn't raise her head to look at any of them, but from the anger she heard in Patrick's voice, it was obvious that things had worked in Dan's favor, and she was very glad.

"What was that about?" Claire asked Dan with a frown as she watched Patrick storm out.

"I guess it's just one of Trick's usual mood swings. He will be fine," Dan assured his mother with a dismissive sweep of his hands.

"I raised Patrick the same way I raised you, remember? What did you do to annoy him this much?" Claire asked in distress, forgetting that Bella was still in the office.
