It was night time but the Assembly room was very lively as several loud voices echoed within the vicinity.
"There's no question! We've got to control the boy!" Koharu almost wanted to pound her fist on the table but controlled herself when she remembered that several ninjas were with them. Nevertheless, this did not stop her from showing her true feelings. "With that Kekkei Genkai, we need to make sure that the boy's move is under supervision at all times. Who knows if the other villages will find out what he can do."
Homura nodded with a calm look on his face, his eyes fixated on the Hokage. "Konoha should be the only one to benefit from this power, Hiruzen. He must become a ninja under our wings at all cost."
Hiruzen shook his head. "But the kid does not want to become one, Homura. He specifically said that he is a Pokemon Trainer and not a ninja."
"No matter if he wanted to or not, I believe that we should control the child," Homura insisted.
Hiruzen exhaled deeply and stood up. "Let's stop forcing the kid. I'm afraid that he's going to be hostile against us if we forced him to do things that betray his beliefs."
"But - "
"My decision is final, Homura!" Hiruzen cut him off before he could even start talking again. He walked towards the window, his eyes lingering up the sky. "This meeting is adjourned."
Homura looked at him in dismay before exiting the room while Koharu stayed a bit longer on the chair as she thought of something before leaving as well.
Kakashi was silent throughout the meeting. He wondered why Hiruzen had a change of heart and approached him and said, "Hokage-sama, I think that your decision is correct."
Hiruzen glimpsed at him before taking out his cigar and smoked. "I don't want Itachi Uchiha's case to repeat."
Kakashi's face became gloomy when he heard Hiruzen mentioning Itachi's name. "It's my fault why he left. I should have chosen to spend more time with him and gave him more sensible advice and encouragements."
"It's not your fault, Kakashi. There are some things in this world that we can't prevent. If there is someone to blame, it should have been me. I should have known that it would happen."
Kakashi was quiet for a few minutes before asking, "What will happen to Okami?"
Hiruzen exhaled deeply. "Let's not force him to take the exam."
=================
Homura and Koharu were silent as they left the building. They were flustered from their recent discussions with Hiruzen, not expecting that he would listen to the rantings of a young boy. When they arrived at the intersection, Homura stopped walking.
Koharu narrowed her eyes and halted as well, and asked, "What's the matter, Homura?"
Homura looked at her and replied, "It's a big blunder if we can't control Okami. I think Danzo's right, we have to take drastic actions to make sure that the boy will be under our control."
"How are you going to do that?"
"We should talk to Danzo. We need his influence if we want to do something without alerting Hiruzen."
"But this is a betrayal, Homura!"
"I'd like to think that we are just doing this for the sake of Konoha, Koharu. His Kekkei Genkai will become a big help in increasing the prestige of our village. After all, the boy is still young and is easy to manipulate. This is the best time that we can teach our beliefs to him."
"Remember the time when Hiruzen disbanded the Root, it's because he found out about Danzo's betrayal!"
Homura snorted. "That is why we have to be discreet about it. You already know that Danzo still has some of the ex-Root members under his wings."
Koharu closed her eyed and weighed the pros and cons inside her mind. She then took a deep breath and said, "Sure. Let's contact him to formulate the plan."
==================
"And that's the story, everyone." Okami grabbed an apple that was set on the plate and took a bite. "After knowing everything our clan is going to face, will you still follow me?"
Tomiro nodded without hesitation. "There's no doubt I am joining you, Boss. Just tell us what I should do. I am ready to leave if that's what we need to do."
"That's right," Baki agreed. "I can't imagine if they will use Anita to force me in betraying you, Okami."
"Then we better plan for it. We don't want to be caught unaware," Okami answered. He then started discussing his plans to them.
==================
The days passed by very quickly. Okami was elated when Hiruzen informed him that his request was granted and he did not have to participate in the Chunin exam. He needed all the time he could get to implement his plans.
Even though the exam did not concern him anymore, he still took the time asking Kakashi about Naruto and the other Genin's situation. The Chunin exam happened just the way Okami expected it to be, with all the teams passing the written exam and the test inside the Forest of Death as well.
Team 7 was still attacked by Orochimaru despite the preparation that Hiruzen had done. Although Sasuke had Abra as his pokemon starter, Orochimaru was able to inflict him with the cursed seal because of overconsumption of chakra due to teleportation. Even then, Naruto and Sasuke were still able to pass the preliminary for the third test, including Shikamaru, Neji, and Shino. As for Lee, he was still incapacitated and his bones were still crushed by Gaara just like the way it was in the original plot.
Based on what he heard from the Jonin, he was now pretty sure that the anime and manga were accurate but he still wondered if some butterfly effects would drastically change the plot because of the pokemon. Some minor things had happened just like Naruto and Kiba's fight, wherein Naruto won in a landslide because Vulpix was able to perma-confuse the weak Akamaru, thereby preventing them from using their joint attacks. But these things did not alter the plot because Naruto still won and Kiba lost.
Despite a lot of things happening through the days, Okami continued practicing his Pokemon Jutsu and integration of chakra to his techniques so he could face the upcoming troubles with confidence.
A month had passed since the Genins won the tournament and today was the last day before the main event would be held. Okami knew that Naruto was with Jiraiya and Sasuke was being trained by Kakashi at this time.
Many foreign ninjas were roaming inside the Leaf village and his shop became one of the main attractions because of the unique nature of the place. It was almost full every day and his only two employees were very busy entertaining the customers. This made him very elated because his money was increasing - more money, more power. Even though he was warned by Hiruzen to not turn any foreign ninjas into pokemon trainers, he could still sell the other goods like the potions and antidotes, which became instant bestsellers. Fortunately, Hiruzen did not interfere with his business.
Pokemon Safari was also opened to the public and people kept on coming back to catch their pokemon safely. Even though there was a lot of pokemon roaming within the forests and cities but they were a bit aggressive and required fighting skills to catch them. Inside the Safari, they could enjoy the sceneries and commune with the pokemon without endangering themselves. Besides, a lot of rarer pokemon could be seen inside the Safari as well.
There was one time when a ninja caught a rare Snorlax and he became an instant celebrity. People kept on asking him how he did it and where he met the pokemon but he kept mum about it.
Okami turned his once teammates into Pokemon Rangers and his clan members increased by three. Deira Nochi, Taeho Kushiki, and Anita Ryota were very happy and spent most of their time inside the Pokemon Safari. They were still under the Pokemon Intelligence Division but Shikaku could not find them inside the office. Even then, he did not complain because the trio always gave fresh researches concerning pokemon every day.
Many people started using the PC service after they caught their sixth pokemon. Even the item storage system was also popular among the ninjas since it was pretty convenient and safe.
Okami could not help but feel happy when he realized that the pokemon influence was getting stronger. Most of his early pokemon were already on its max evolution form, including Growlithe which he turned into Arcanine using the Fire Stone after learning Fire Blast. These included Butterfree, Ninetales, Pidgeot, Raticate, Beedrill, Parasect, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Dugtrio, and surprisingly Crobat, even though other pokemon generations were still locked. Tentacool and the rest were not yet evolved because he rarely used them in training and battles as well. Unfortunately, Kadabra, Graveler, and Machoke did not evolve into Alakazam, Golem, and Machamp respectively because the trading machine was not yet available. He did not evolve his Eevee right away because he was still undecided as to what eevolution he wanted to get.
Okami also redeemed seven new Pokemon along the way. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee became available when he befriended Gai and Lee, Meowth and Magnemite because of Tenten, and Goldeen and Seel after befriending Okita, the lady merchant. Somehow, Grimer was unlocked when he was in good terms with Okita's admirer, Oriko.
Currently, he had 39 pokemon which he always left at the front yard when he was in resting mode, except Kadabra. This boosted his shop sales as well, which became the major thing-to-see inside the Leaf village.
He took out the Pokemon App and checked his current status.

Okami wondered if it was the right time for him to redeem the Altered Vulpix because he reached the needed Pokemon Points to avail one.
