Jace's Point of View
Jeff kept blaring about how fierce and brave Jordan, one of my cousins, attacked Delvin Cavern in the middle of the street. I already knew it was Jordan who wanted to kill Delvin. Apart from the Cavern clan, another reason is that Delvin is Jordan's great rival, who has won many football matches against his college alma mater.
"I heard your parents are going back to Kensington for a new product launch from one of their colleagues?" Jeff raised an eyebrow as he tossed a tiny miniature glass ball next to my nightstand.
I ignored what he was doing right now because I was more interested in the booklet in my hand. Joseph's booklet of important Cavern family information. Including their biodata, in full.
"Hmm," I mumbled.
"You were forced to come, right?" In the end, Jeff put down the miniature glass ball. One leg was lifted above the thigh and rocked.
"To be precise, the Bryants were required to come." The corner of my eye glanced at him indifferently. "But I doubt attending the event."
"Why? Aren't you attracted to girls labeled royalty? There are many children of successful entrepreneurs who are beautiful, sexy and fit your criteria, Jace. Yes… after being rebuffed by your neighbor—"
"Don't bring that up again." I cast a playful glance at Jeff. He responded with a wry sneer.
"What about Tamara? You don't want to be with him anymore? I am willing to make it one of the FWB (friends with benefits) collections."
After a long time, my hands were itching to throw the lamp on the nightstand at Jeff, who was squeaking incessantly. "Just take it. I don't need it anymore."
Like the rest of The Bryants, Jeff wasn't the least bit interested in a serious love affair. He prefers to play behind the term friends with benefits rather than dealing with love issues that contain a lot of bullshit. For Jeff, the only thing that interests him is work, work, and work. He's a workaholic like Joseph. Unlike me, I'm more interested in freedom that is not bound. Maybe the effect of my early age and not quite ready to be deployed to the business world like the others.
"You're an understanding cousin, Jace." Jeff snapped his fingers pointing at me.
I responded to his compliments and rolled my eyes in embarrassment.
