A few minutes ago Jace saw the dark brown-haired girl in front of his eyes, Elsie Cavern, walking up the stairs with one of his schoolmates. He didn't know the man who was walking with Elsie. But it was enough to know that the man's name was Ryan Foster, the school playboy who had the honor of being the head of popular kids at Albert Einstein High School.
The corners of Jace's lips lifted at the thought of the girl. Not positive thoughts such as worrying about her situation if she has dealt with Ryan. But negative thoughts, filled with a desire for revenge, hatred, and condescending words.
"Hey, you're that new student, right?" a girl came to startle Jace while wrapping her arms around Jace's neck, ignoring the scornful glances that shone from the two hazel eyes in front of her.
"As you know," Jace replied in a casual tone.
"You don't seem to be enjoying the party that much, hm?" The girl pulled herself closer to Jace's body until her chest was pressed against his chest. "I'm Jillian Brooks."
"You are very drunk, Miss." Observing Jillian's staggering state with one hand holding a long-legged glass, Jace snorted softly. "Go home and sleep."
"No one can tell me to leave. Neither you, Babe."
Slightly pushing Jillian's body, Jace tried to free himself from her grip. He secretly cursed in annoyance and regretted his presence at Chloe's party. Even though he is also a party enthusiast, for some reason, that night, he feels bored and can't enjoy the party as usual.
Jace's hand grabbed Jillian's wrist, then led the girl to a long sofa where there were several beautiful girls around a boy who had a similar facial line to Jace's, but the difference between the two of them was in the hair color; the boy had brownish-blonde hair while Jace was dark brown.
"Jax, I want her to stay by your side," Jace said, pushing Jillian gently until she was pressed against a boy who was none other than Jaxen Bryant, his younger brother.
Responding to his brother's orders, Jaxen rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Fuck you, bro."
Ignoring Jaxen's annoyed tone, Jace walked away, leaving Jillian who was now busy with Jaxen and some of the girls. Jace deliberately brought Jaxen just to accompany him to Chloe's house. Although Jaxen was not part of Albert Einstein High School's students.
Avoiding the loud thumping music, Jace pulled over to the side of the pool as he took out a cigarette and lit it. A light smoke blew from his mouth. What is needed right now is calm. If the party can't get rid of all the problems that are running through his head, then being alone is another option. The corners of his eyes moved in one direction. More precisely, the bedroom window with the curtains closed and showing the shadows of two people making out inside. Jace knew very well that one of the people in the room was Elsie. Her posture is easily recognizable.
Jace's first response was a sarcastic laugh.
"What a bitch."
