Jace's Point of View
I let out a short breath as I saw Elsie sleeping on top of her father's body. Suddenly as if someone squeezed my heart to see him cry like that. Crying and begging her father to stay by her side. Of course, I would not have the heart to kill Mr. Caverns. Even if Joseph gave the whip or beheaded even once. I couldn't bear to see Elsie cry.
Before I left the hallway, I could see Mr. Cavern that was pointing at me. He smiled sweetly and kindly. Wait. Smiling sweet and friendly? The one who killed my grandfather smiled sweetly and kindly at me? One of a colleague's grandson who became a business rival? Impossible.
My mind says that he is innocent. I don't know where that stupid thought came from. But my heart demands that I investigate the case of my grandfather's death first before judging someone who is not necessarily guilty.
