Looking down, Shouko stared at her bruised knees. She didn't notice them before. By the time she realized there was pain coming from her knees, faint bluish marks had already marred her skin.

"What should I do? Hiss!"

Shouko retracted her fingers from her bruised knees. This bruising might happen when she was trying to shield Yuuya from his mother earlier. Shouko remembered she dropped her knees hard on the floor, moreover when she received the blow from the madwoman, the impact intensified.
