Bab 112: Your choice

"Your foster parents, how about them?" He asks abruptly out of the blue, avoiding looking at me in favor of anything else.

"They passed away a few years ago," I reply sadly, glancing briefly at his face before quickly shifting my focus once more.

A lump formed in my throat.

He sighs. "Sorry. That sounded insensitive. You must miss them terribly."

"Thank you. They were good people who took care of me." My tone is curt as I speak the words.

It hurts talking about them. It hurts thinking about them. And it hurts most of all to feel the absence of their love. But I force myself to push on, forcing myself to move forward.

The only thing keeping me sane through all these difficult times is the promise I made to myself to make sure that Zane pays dearly for taking them away from me.
