"You set me up to fail."
The statement hung in the air, almost tangible. The Russian mafia king stared at his daughter with an apprehensive expression, clearly disinterested in what he considered a trivial conversation. Mrs. Heyman's broken heart, stemming from the realization that her own father had intentionally sabotaged her mission, momentarily captured his attention. She was the spitting image of his late wife.
"You have her eyes, her body, her mouth," he remarked, studying his daughter. "Literally everything about you is a carbon copy of your mother."
Mrs. Heyman remained silent, struggling to process the sudden revelation. Her father had granted her permission to undertake an operation, fully aware of its inevitable failure. Was this the game he had been playing all along? Had his mastery of manipulation driven his own wife away, ultimately leading to her demise?
