Enzo watched Jessica, transfixed. He couldn't tear his eyes away from her. A jumble of thoughts and feelings wrestled within him, begging to be expressed. But he chose silence, letting the moment stretch between them.

Jessica clung to his hand as if her life depended on it. Her nervousness was palpable, a stark contrast to her earlier bravado. Enzo found himself grappling with more questions than answers. Despite his attempts to piece everything together, there wasn't a single damn thing he truly comprehended about this enigmatic woman.

"Are you okay?" Enzo asked softly, breaking the silence.

Jessica nodded, her grip on his hand tightening. "I think so. It's just... a lot to process."

Enzo understood. He'd been in her shoes once, long ago. The first kill was always the hardest.
