The next morning, the sky was a pale, washed-out blue, the early sunlight filtering through the thin veil of clouds. There was an almost eerie calm outside, a stark contrast to the storm of thoughts swirling in my mind. I hadn't slept well. Every time I closed my eyes, I envisioned Caspian, standing alone in the center of the ceremonial grounds, the weight of the kingdom's judgment pressing down on his small shoulders. The thought was unbearable.

I turned away from the window and focused on the tasks of the day. Today wasn't about the Dynria or the wedding, not yet. Today was about the pups—Zahair and Kamari. They deserved some sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. I dressed quietly, feeling the familiar brush of the soft fabrics against my skin as I prepared for what should have been a simple task: enrolling them in classes. But nothing felt simple anymore.
