"I don't understand." Ava didn't even blink. She met Matthew's eyes. "What do you mean?"

"Ava? I can literally feel that you are lying." Matthew's lips were thinned into a straight line.

"You can?" That was new? She thought she was good at blocking whatever telepathy that they had. Did she fail? She couldn't help but wonder if this was because of the training that Baba gave her.

Until now, she couldn't hold the candle steady for a minute.

She's failing at it.

And she couldn't understand why.

"I can," Matthew wiped his sweat and sat opposite her in a lotus position. "And I also understand why you are trying to hide it."
