Nicholas seemed to be busy with his food, as well as Korvin and Grace. But his activities stopped when his ear caught something. The sound of footsteps that were relatively fast and impatient, as if so close, so close that it managed to make Nicholas feel strange.
"Does your neighbors often make annoying trips in the middle of the night?" Nicholas asked Korvin. Korvin, who didn't understand what Nicholas was saying, frowned, then Korvin took a deep breath.
"Come on, Nick. What are you talking about right now? About strange things or the sound of footsteps, this district is relatively quiet, lots of people walking around even until midnight to visit a mini-market at the end of the road. Even a few Uncles are gambling on the tree at the end of the road. The atmosphere must be pretty crowded, that's why if we are here it will feel very noisy, and that is a very natural thing.
"But-"
Dor!!
Dor!
Dor!!
Nicholas grabbed Grace's hand to protect himself quickly, and then he immediately knocked down the dining table full of food earlier for cover. He quickly invited Grace and Korvin to find shelter safely. Frowning his brows, Nicholas tried to think who the hell was trying to attack him this time?
Nicholas couldn't pull out his gun, and indeed this would make Korvin and Grace even more panicked and afraid of him. Nicholas was trying to figure out how he could go for a while to see what was going on there. Then, he looked at Grace, who was already hiding while covering her ears. Nicholas was stunned. Grace's gaze was blank. Her body was cold and was shaking violently.
"Karvy, what about Grace?" asked Nicholas as he watched Korvin continue to hold his brother so possessively.
"Grace, Grace seems to be thinking about her trauma again, Nick. She's reminded of her trauma when Mom and Dad were killed!"
Deg!
Nicholas' heart seemed to have stopped beating, and he had no idea what would happen now. How can this happen? How could this be at a time when everything is better now. So, he was the one who made Grace like this? Nicholas' jaw clenched, his hands clenched into fists.
Damn it!
Nicholas thought, continuously blaming himself. He shouldn't be like this. he should be better. What about him now? How about his life now? Nicholas had no idea what he had to do to make things better. Then, Nicholas took a deep breath, patted Korvin's shoulder, and looked at Korvin steadily.
"Korvy, it's pretty safe here. You guys never stand up and don't go anywhere. I'll check if there's anything outside. Can you do it for me to stay here without going anywhere?" asked Nicholas. Korvin nodded the look on his panicked face not even covered anymore.
Nicholas nodded his head, and then he looked for an opening to try his best to get out of there.
"You have to be careful, Nich!" Korvin shouted. Nicholas' heart warmed. Anyone was worried about him and prayed for his safety for the first time. So far, let alone worrying about him, even other people tend to be eager to hear the news of his death.
Nicholas immediately walked away, stepped out of the window, and then ran down the street around the district to see what was happening on the other side. When he got to the point where two shooters were wearing all black, Nicholas smirked. He suddenly felt a thirst for blood and tried his best to control himself. Yes, the blood of the Bowman family, from all the pain he had endured all this time. The blood and lives of his parents had been snatched away very clearly.
"Are you guys looking for me?" asked Nicholas. The two shooters immediately turned their heads, and they seemed surprised to see Nicholas was already behind them.
When?
That's what was on both of their minds, and then both of them seemed to be smiling excitedly. Both of them had been offered many wages to kill the man named Nicholas Kyle. So with Nicholas coming alone and carrying nothing, it was the perfect thing for them to kill the man in front of them.
"You seem to like death a lot, Mr. Kyle. Did you come to dig your own grave?" said one of the shooters who was there. The two of them immediately aimed their rifles at Nicholas, but Nicholas quickly dodged. Even as invisible as possible, Nicholas was suddenly right between the two of them perfectly, and….
Dor!!
Dor!!!
Dor!!!
Both of them immediately lay helpless, and blood seeped out perfectly. Nicholas looked crouched, then wiped the blood splashed on his face, wiped the blood with his thumb, and then licked it. Nicholas smiled again, and he seemed to grin at that.
"Scent, I love the blood of the death of your right hands, curse!"
Nicholas also let the two bodies lay just like that, then he called the police, still with a grin, he glanced at the two bodies that lay lifeless.
"Yes, what is up?"
"There was a brutal shooting going on in the San Vagos district, and it looks like there have been terrorists."
Nicholas immediately hung up, and then he walked back to Grace's house. Knocking on the door made Korvin open it in a hurry when he found out that it was Nicholas. Korvin's eyes were dumbfounded for a moment when he saw Nicholas's face was splattered with blood. Nicholas's eyes looked dark, utterly different from Nicholas's before, warm and friendly. Korvin decided not to ask anything. He immediately backed off and invited Nicholas to come in.
"Grace, where is she?" asked Nicholas then. Korvin seemed to be swallowing his saliva with difficulty. How not, given such a question, who would dare? Korvin was genuinely terrified by Nicholas' killing aura.
"He's still in his room, Nick. He has still locked himself in his room. The good thing is, he doesn't seem as chaotic as he used to be. He's calmer even though he doesn't want to talk yet."
Nicholas seemed to take a deep breath, and then he closed his eyes perfectly. Slowly his gaze warmed back to how it had been, then Nicholas smiled. How relieved Korvin was to see Nicholas's warm eyes.
"Sorry I ruined our meal. I'll order it again," said Nicholas, as if nothing had happened at all. He looked calm and so relaxed, a complete contrast to how Korvin was feeling right now.
"No need, Nick. We're full," Korvin refused, then he looked at Nicholas again. "Whose blood is that on your face, Nick?"
