The rain was getting heavier as they approached Caden on his motorcycle.
Edith looked at James patiently waiting for him to answer her question.
He simply held the door and said, “You are the first person I’ve met who has the Sanctus Lux.”
Edith sighed silently.
Caden called gently, “Edith, quickly…”
“How are the horses?” Edith asked.
“They are fine, why don’t we go check them?” Caden’s voice sounded tense.
Edith whispered, “What’s wrong, Caden?”
“Get on the bike.”
“Mr. Byrne,” James stepped up. “It’s been quite some time.”
Caden stared for a moment, “James Ackley. I should have recognized you sooner. Thank you for your help. I need to…”
James interrupted, “It’s a pleasure to be remembered…”
At that moment, several blocks down, a car screeched around the corner. The car’s engine revved high as it tore down the road towards the cathedral.
“Get on the bike, Edith!” Caden roared. “James, get the others back inside.”
