Still fighting and gasping for air, Edith scratched at the gloved hand around her neck as she was dragged through the darkness of silent hallways. At first, she thought she was still in the ruins, but when she looked up, Edith recognized the large dull moon from the Night Realm, the realm of the vampires.
“Let her breathe,” the vampiress ordered. “She’s no good to us dead.”
“Yes, Daeva.”
The pressure around Edith’s neck released slightly and she fell to her knees. Regaining her breath, Edith tried to speak.
“Oh no, you don’t talk,” Daeva clucked in annoyance. “Not yet.”
The vampiress suddenly stopped and looked behind her.
“Go back and make sure no one is following us,” she ordered a nearby vampire. “You…get her to Ansgar, quickly.”
Edith struggled as she was taken by each arm and once again forced to move forward. She was able to look around and discovered she was in a different part of the nightmare realm.
