Edith took Caden’s outstretched hand and smoothly slid onto the motorcycle behind the vampire. He nodded to Miles and Asher, then began to leave the cottage.
“Where are we going?” Edith asked wrapping her hands around Caden’s muscular waist.
“To get a drink,” Caden said matter-of-factly. “The others will come shortly.”
He placed a hand over hers and they drove smoothly down roads and through the small city until they reached The Roaming Minstrel.
Getting off the bike, Caden removed his helmet and looked at the sky. He coughed.
At Edith’s look of concern, Caden raised a hand.
“I’m not sick…I won’t send you away this time.”
“Why are you coughing?” Edith asked.
Caden eyed her uncomfortably, “I try fighting certain needs, and my body reminds me that I am a vampire…”
Edith looked at him with knowing eyes.
“Are you sure you don’t need to go home?” she asked kindly.
The vampire shook his head, “I still have a few days before I need to deal with it.”
