Bab 8: The First Mission
Shina's eyes widened as this soft comforting voice fell on her ears.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as the cold wind blew around them, somehow lending a strange warmth to their embrace.
Shina couldn't hold back her tears as they flowed freely down her face.
Dravid tightened his grasp around her as she silently mourned for all the things she lost.
After some time, they finally broke away from the slithering silence and looked at each other.
"Thank you!"
Shina whispered still hugging Dravid.
Dravid caressed her hair and shook his head.
"You don't have to thank me, you should know you are not alone,"
Shina tightened her grasp around him even more but didn't say anything.
Sometimes, a gesture is enough to say everything.
In the cold alley, they both embraced each other for a long time feeling this rare sense of comfort.
"Should we depart for guild now?"
Dravid stroked her head.
"Hmm,"
Shina enjoyed the comfort and nodded.
They both departed towards the guild with little smiles on their faces.
On his way, Dravid was amazed by a lot of things while Shina scanned the surroundings looking for any potential threat.
Dravid also inquired many things about the city.
He got to know that only mages above rank two could fly in the car.
And even if you are a rank two mage, you cannot fly without having a mana storage box.
"So the mana storage box is like a petrol tank in my previous life,"
Dravid understood this simple concept.
"This world is almost the same as New York City but with mages who could fly,"
"We have reached our destination,"
Shina informed him while he was lost in thought.
A big building comparable to Burj Khalifa in his life appeared before him.
"Wow! This building is huge!"
Dravid exclaimed in surprise.
[Ding!]
[You have reached the guild.]
[From today the missions would be given to the host.]
[Host can earn multiple rewards and power through these missions.]
[Upon failing the mission, one point from random stats such as S.P. would be deducted.]
A simple explanation appeared in Dravid's mind.
"What? So I can earn rewards by completing them?"
[Yes host.]
"Is there any option where I can refuse the missions?"
[No. Because all the missions would be situational.]
[Such as if the host is in danger, the mission can be to rescue yourself.]
[If failed, the host has to lose his life.]
[I wonder if the host will refuse to save his own life?]
"Hehe! I was kidding, don't take it seriously,"
Dravid understood how this mission thing works so he stopped asking questions.
"Let's enter the guild!"
Shina's voice fell on his ear.
He nodded and they entered the guild.
Dravid's nerves kicked in when he saw the crowd of people. As an introvert in his previous life, he found it overwhelming
[Host should take a deep breath and face the things since he has to face a lot of things in the future.]
"Shina, give me a second!"
Dravid gestured her towards a seat and went to an isolated place.
He took a deep breath and felt his nervousness.
Then he went towards a little shop in the guild and bought a fresh bottle of water.
After calming down for some seconds, he finally took control of his nervousness.
"Hey! Were you not detained by the mage association? What are you doing here?"
A girlish voice asked Shina who was waiting for Dravid.
Shina didn't say anything since the girl before her also came from an influential family.
The girl who had the appearance of a brat seemed annoyed by not getting Shina's attention.
"Hehe! Act proud as you can due to your talent, you will still not escape the wrath of Jonathan family,"
The girl said in a scornful manner but Shina remained silent.
At this moment, a boy with a malicious expression threw some kind of potion towards Shina.
Shina reacted in an instant with her novice mage mana but the bratty girl tightly grasped her body and smiled in victory.
Shina's silent eyes despaired as she saw the corrosive potion advancing rapidly towards her face.
Boom!
A bottle of water was thrown at high speed towards the corrosive speed in the air before it could travel any further away from the boy.
Tinkle!
The corrosive potion glass was shattered by the sheer force on the bottle spreading it towards the boy.
"Aaahhh!"
The boy's face was burnt by the corrosive potion as it was made up of flammable acid.
Thump!
He rolled on the ground while covering his face as the pain assaulted his body.
The bratty girl was still in shock.
Crackle!
A beautiful scene appeared in front of Dravid as he saw some leaves flying in the air.
The leaves danced in a joyful manner as they charged towards the bratty girl.
The bratty girl let go of Shina and fled using her dark magic spell.
But the leaves were simply too fast as they touched the skin of the bratty girl and left hundreds of bruises on her body in a second and disappeared.
Everyone in the guild averted their eyes from the work and witnessed this magnificent ethereal spell.
Even Dravid was shocked to see its terrifying power and looked at Shina with an incredulous gaze.
Shina didn't say anything but sat again with a pale face.
[ This spell is known as Druid's Rage and can only be triggered when Druid is angry.]
[It's a rank three spell but can develop further as the power of the druid increases.]
The system concisely informed Dravid.
"Hey! Are you alright?"
Dravid looked for any injury on her.
"Yes, Let's go to the guild and take some mission,"
Her response was cold since she didn't want anyone to see her warm side which she showed to Dravid before.
"Okay! As you say,"
Dravid understood it and acted along with her.
"Who were they btw?"
"They are from the Gond family, the branch of the Jonathan family in the city,"
"Hmm, We have to do something about them else they will always be troubling you."
[Ding! The first mission has been initiated.]
[Kill the two members of the Gond family.]
