Bab 48: Forty-eight, Huiqing Sword

In the dilapidated temple, stood two old men with white beards, along with Shen Yanqing, their hands clasped behind their backs in the center. Before them stood Sangmo and Bai Mucheng.

Both of their faces were darkened around the mouth and nose, and when Bai Mucheng had been skating, she had rubbed two large holes through the back of her skirt.

"Why have you not returned home at night?!" The old man dressed in the Peak Master's attire glared at them with reproach.

He looked like the kind of good-natured, approachable elder, with his youthful complexion and white hair. Even though he was trying hard to keep a stern face, there wasn't a trace of severity to be seen on his visage.

"Grandfather, I was secretly accompanying Junior Sister Su in delivering winter supplies to the people of Yunhuai Mountain. We were doing good deeds," Bai Mucheng said in a small, defiant voice.

Upon hearing this, Grandfather Bai's face immediately softened with pleasure, "Oh, so it was for a good deed…"
