Under the heavy rain and thunder, Frederick quickly dodged the woman's attack. The woman was confident in her abilities in close-quarter combat, and rightfully so. Her attacks were quick, and her footwork was excellent. If someone who did not understand the concept of speed and position were watching, they would believe that the woman had the advantage.
She attacked him at a very fast pace, and her ethereal sword was swinging nonstop. Her fighting style relied solely on speed. After dodging the first waves of attacks and taking some minor cuts, she used her authority to teleport again, and another wave of attacks rained upon him.
This continued until Frederick managed to grab the woman's wrist and twist it with a simple move. Before she could even react, Frederick punched her, and it hit her squarely in the stomach.
Right as she was about to get hit, her body flashed gray for a split second. However, it didn't prevent her from being knocked back violently. As her body hit the hard ground, blood splattered out from her mouth. Her eyes were filled with shock as she slowly got up. Even though the woman had protected herself from his blow, it still dealt considerable damage to her.
As the thunder clapped in the background, she glared at him as she coughed up blood. The man in front of her was in his mid-twenties. He was around 190 cm (6.2ft), but the most notable feature was his red pupils. They were cold and extremely frightening.
He wore a casual gray shirt and pants with a black trenchcoat. His clothes were a bit torn and dirty. She did not notice it before, but despite the heavy rain, there were still some lingering blood stains on his clothes.
'He is dangerous…It is not only his attributes but his technique and authority.' From their short exchange, the woman felt it. Frederick had a higher constitution attribute and was more experienced in battle than her, which was a shock.
She had met many strong candidates before, but no one was able to catch her off-guard like Frederick. The woman stared at him as blood continued to trickle from the corner of her mouth. His gaze was emotionless, almost as if he were a machine staring at her.
As the rain fell on his face, Frederick stood unmoving and carefully examined the woman for any potential last-trump card. He still had an uneasy feeling about her, which he could not ignore. After a few seconds, seeing that she still did not use anything shady, it was Frederick's turn to go on the offensive.
Suddenly accelerating toward her, the woman barely managed to block the punch. However, her arm felt numb, and it was clear that the impact was much stronger than the previous one. Without any warning, Frederick threw a kick, which was blocked by her other arm.
Yet he did not stop there; he quickly followed up with another punch. This time, she was overwhelmed by the wave of attacks, and before she could even react, she felt a burning sensation on her left cheek and then a moment later, she felt her body flying in the air. She flew in the air for a couple of seconds before falling on the hard, wet ground, hitting her head several times in the process.
Her long hair was now scattered all over her face. The taste of blood was spreading in her mouth. The woman felt her vision going blurry. Her mind went blank as the world spun, and she could feel her consciousness slowly fading. Although she had great reflexes, she was unable to dodge the punch and could only barely use her authority to protect herself.
Yet she tried to slowly get up despite being barely conscious. She knew that the instant she fell here, she would die. She could not afford to let her guard down. However, before she could even lift her head, her vision was covered with a dark shade. She quickly turned her head only to see the bottom of her shoe of Frederick heading towards her face.
With great haste, she rolled back and barely managed to avoid the stomp. Despite avoiding the attack, she still suffered a bit of the impact. After rolling, she quickly stood up.
The woman found herself in a dire situation. Her whole body was aching, and the only thing keeping her awake was adrenaline. The worst part is that her calculative power was almost used up, and she would only be able to use her authorities once or twice before running out and passing out. She doubted she would be able to run away in her current condition either.
'I can't win this.' she thought as she struggled to breathe.
However, before she could think of a plan, a sudden chill ran down her spine as her body screamed danger. Instinctively, she jumped to the side; however, this time, she was not fast enough.
"ARGHH!" the woman screamed in pain as a blood projectile pierced her right leg.
She could only look helplessly as blood poured out continuously of her right leg. Her body was screaming in pain, and her head was boiling because she overused her calculative power, but she did not care about any of that. In fact, her heart was pumping like crazy, and her mind was working at an incredible speed in an attempt to find some solutions to her current situation. Yet only a single solution came to her.
'Actually, this might be an opportunity... ' the woman thought with a strange smile. Taking out a ring from her pocket, she suddenly yelled.
"I give up!"
Hearing this, Frederick's footsteps stopped, and he gave her a strange look. However, was she expecting him to let her live just because she gave up? His eyes were focused on the ring she just took out. He wasn't sure if it was her trump card or some sort of last resort, but he needed to be careful.
Ignoring her, he was about to finish her off when the woman suddenly …
Kneeled on the ground and…
"Marry me!"
…proposed to him…
