Bab 42: First Experience

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. The events of the night replayed in my mind, each detail vivid and haunting. The auction, the bids, the Card of Shadows, and most of all, the woman with no shadow. What kind of power did she possess to defy the natural order in such a way?

As the carriage began to move, I finally allowed myself to relax a little. I had made it out unscathed, but the night had left its mark on me. The world of the Eldritch was more dangerous and mysterious than I had ever imagined. I had seen things that defied logic and reason, and I knew that my journey into this shadowy realm was just beginning.

For now, I was safe. But the knowledge of what I had seen would stay with me, a constant reminder of the strange and terrifying realities that lay hidden just beneath the surface of the ordinary world.
