Bab 93: The Rift  

The darkness had settled slightly when Avery felt it—a simple, tugging sensation deep within her. She stood alone on the edge of campus, recovering her breath after the commotion of Damien's homecoming and the savage struggle that ensued. Shadows moved across the empty grounds, and the air felt heavy, thick with an anxiety she couldn't identify.

However, something became wrong. Avery noticed it, a faint but constant hum in the air, like a music she'd forgotten but couldn't quite escape. She shook her head, attempting to dismiss the feeling, but it only intensified, sparking dread in the back of her mind.

The silence was broken when she heard footsteps behind her. She expected Lucas or Damien, but the person drawing close became herself.
