Bab 4: Chapter 3: Secrets in the Shadows

The peaceful night that settled over the Mikaelson estate belied the seismic shifts happening beneath the surface. Harry, still sleeping in Klaus's arms, was more than just a wizard. He was the son of the Original Hybrid, a tribrid with the potential for powers far beyond anything the wizarding world had ever seen. As Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah stood over the child, they knew that the road ahead would be fraught with challenges—ones they had never faced before.

But the night held another secret, one that would soon reveal itself.

As Klaus sat beside Harry, watching over him as he slept, he noticed something—something subtle at first, but unmistakable. Harry's features seemed... different. His eyes, which had always been so reminiscent of Lily's, now had the faintest hint of amber around the edges. His messy black hair, the hallmark of James Potter, seemed a touch lighter, almost as if it was shifting from the raven black of his father's to something else entirely.

Klaus narrowed his eyes, a suspicion forming in his mind. He knew spells, glamours, enchantments that could alter appearances. Over his thousand years of life, he had seen magic used in ways that both fascinated and infuriated him. Could it be that Lily and James had cast a spell on Harry to make him look more like James than Klaus? To hide the truth of his parentage from the world? It would have been a clever move—necessary, given the danger that would have arisen if anyone had known Harry was the son of the Original Hybrid.

But now, that spell was weakening. Slowly, but surely, Harry was beginning to resemble the man he truly came from.

Klaus leaned in closer, his fingers lightly brushing Harry's soft cheek. Yes, the change was subtle, but it was there. His jawline was beginning to take on Klaus's sharpness, his nose a touch more refined, his overall appearance growing less Potter and more Mikaelson with each passing moment. The spell was unraveling. Now that Harry was with his true father, the magic Lily and James had cast was fading.

"Elijah," Klaus called, his voice steady but urgent. His brother turned from the window, his keen eyes noticing Klaus's intensity immediately.

"What is it?" Elijah asked, stepping closer.

Klaus motioned toward Harry. "Look at him. He's changing."

Elijah frowned as he leaned in, examining Harry's features. "Changing? What do you mean?"

Klaus's voice was low, barely a whisper. "They cast a spell on him. To make him look more like James. To hide the fact that he's mine. But now that he's with me, the spell is fading."

Elijah's expression darkened as he realized what Klaus was saying. "A glamour. It makes sense. They wouldn't have wanted the wizarding world to know who his true father was. Too many questions would have been raised."

Klaus nodded. "But now... the truth is coming to light. He'll look more like me, and the world will see him for who he truly is."

Rebekah, who had been listening quietly, stepped forward, her eyes wide with realization. "Does this mean he'll lose the Potter name? Won't that raise suspicion?"

Klaus considered her question for a moment. "He'll still carry their name in the wizarding world—for now. But his appearance will change. And when the time is right, the world will know he's a Mikaelson."

Elijah crossed his arms, his brow furrowed. "The Ministry, Dumbledore, and anyone with ties to the Potters will notice this change. We'll need to be careful. If they find out that Harry is no longer just a wizard, but also a hybrid of three powerful bloodlines... they'll come for him."

Klaus's eyes glowed with a fierce protectiveness. "Let them come. They won't take him from me. He's my son, and I'll protect him from anyone who dares to threaten him."

Rebekah nodded, but her thoughts seemed to drift elsewhere. "There's something else we need to consider, Nik. Before we head back to Mystic Falls, we need to seek counsel from someone outside this twisted world of Dumbledore's."

Klaus raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Who do you have in mind?"

Rebekah smirked, her eyes gleaming with the plan already forming. "Sol Pendragon. Prince of the magical world in America. He despises Dumbledore and everything the British Ministry stands for. He lives in Rhode Island, at Pendragon Palace—the land of dragons. If anyone can offer insight into Harry's place in the magical world, it's him."

Klaus considered her words carefully. He had heard whispers of Sol Pendragon before—a powerful wizard, from one of the most ancient bloodlines in the magical world. Unlike the British wizarding elite, Sol and his family had forged their own path, building their magical kingdom in America, far from the influence of the Ministry and its manipulations.

"Pendragon..." Klaus mused, his mind already turning. "I've heard of him. He could prove useful."

Elijah nodded in agreement. "Sol has been an outspoken critic of Dumbledore for years. He's seen the flaws in the way the British magical world operates. If we're going to keep Harry safe and guide him through his growing powers, Pendragon's insight could be invaluable."

Klaus's gaze shifted back to Harry, still peacefully asleep but now unmistakably beginning to resemble his true father. "Very well," Klaus said finally. "We'll go to Rhode Island. We'll speak with Sol."

By the time they arrived at Pendragon Palace, dusk had settled over the vast forests of Rhode Island. The air was cool, and the winding roads leading to the ancient fortress seemed to hum with magic, the land itself alive with a presence both powerful and ancient. Pendragon Palace was set deep within the wilderness, hidden from mortal and magical eyes alike.

The palace itself was enormous, a sprawling castle of dragonstone and marble, with intricate carvings of dragons woven into every corner of its architecture. But what struck Klaus immediately was not the grandeur of the building—it was the magic that permeated everything around it. The air shimmered with power, the type of ancient, untamed magic that wizards in Britain had long forgotten.

As they approached the front gates, Elijah raised a hand to knock, but before he could touch the door, it swung open of its own accord. Klaus narrowed his eyes, already on edge. His senses were heightened, but he felt no immediate threat. He was about to say something when a figure appeared at the far end of the entrance hall.

A young boy—or what appeared to be one.

Sol Pendragon, the Prince of the magical world in America, approached them with a mischievous grin plastered across his face. He looked no older than fourteen, with messy black hair that fell just over his sharp, golden eyes. His appearance was youthful and playful, but the ancient power that radiated from him was unmistakable.

"Well, well, well! If it isn't the infamous Klaus Mikaelson and his entourage," Sol said in a sing-song voice, bouncing toward them with the energy of a child but the confidence of someone far older. "What brings you to my humble abode, Klaus? Come to marvel at my dragons, or are you in need of something a little more... magical?"

Klaus exchanged a glance with Elijah, who raised an eyebrow at the peculiar display. Sol was exactly what they had heard—a being of over two thousand years old trapped in a body that aged excruciatingly slowly, maintaining the appearance of an adolescent while carrying the wisdom of millennia.

"We need your counsel, Sol," Klaus said, his tone even but cautious. "We have a child in our care. My son, Harry. He's in danger, and there are things we need to understand about his place in the magical world."

Sol's eyes gleamed as he flicked his gaze toward Harry, who was still in Klaus's arms, now stirring slightly from his nap. "Ahhh, the famous Harry Potter," Sol mused, his grin widening. "Or should I say, the not-so-famous Mikaelson."

He sauntered over to Harry, his hands clasped behind his back as he inspected the boy like a curious artifact. "I can see the glamour fading already. You're going to look just like your dear old dad, aren't you, Harry?"

Harry stirred in his sleep, murmuring softly as Sol stood over him, his mischievous grin never faltering.

Klaus's protective instincts flared, and he shifted his position, keeping Harry close. "The spell they cast on him is fading. Soon, he will look like me, and the world will see the truth. We need to know how to protect him, not just from the wizards, but from anyone who would seek to use him."

Sol straightened, his playful demeanor momentarily replaced by something sharper, more focused. "You're right to come to me. That boy is not just any wizard. He's the product of a powerful union, and the magical world will be... intrigued by what he becomes. But the wizarding world—especially those idiots across the pond in Britain—won't understand what he truly is."

He gave a theatrical sigh and plopped down on a nearby chair, swinging his legs back and forth like a child. "The Ministry and Dumbledore... they think they can control everything. But they have no idea what's happening beyond their narrow little borders. This boy—your son, Klaus—he's a tribrid. A combination of wizard, werewolf, and vampire. Do you understand what that means?"

Klaus's eyes hardened. "I know he's powerful. I want to know how to protect him."

Sol's grin returned, this time with a dark glint in his eye. "Oh, he's more than powerful, Klaus. He's a force of nature waiting to be unleashed. And protecting him won't just mean keeping him from harm. It will mean teaching him control—control over his magic, over his werewolf side, and over the hunger that will come with his vampire blood."

Elijah nodded thoughtfully. "We came to you because we know that you, Sol, have seen more than anyone in the magical world. You've existed for over two thousand years. What do you suggest?"

Sol hopped off the chair, his playful energy returning. "First, you need to keep the boy away from the British magical world as long as possible. They're too obsessed with their 'Chosen One' nonsense. They'll try to mold him into what they want him to be, not what he truly is."

He sauntered closer to Klaus, his grin widening. "Second, you teach him to embrace his true nature. He's not just a wizard—he's a Mikaelson. That means power, strength, and family. Raise him in that, and you'll have a boy who can take on anything."

Klaus's eyes glinted with determination. "That's exactly what I intend to do."

Sol chuckled, his voice filled with amusement. "Good. Then you're on the right path, Klaus Mikaelson. Welcome to Pendragon Palace. And remember..." He leaned in, his golden eyes glowing. "If you ever need dragons, you know where to find me."
