"The entrance to Room 21 is related to the Gambol and Japes Basic Transfiguration Laws," Albert said as he led Katrina to the sixth-floor corridor of the castle.
"What is this, a test?" Katrina raised an eyebrow, looking at the paintings on both sides of the corridor. She knew that many paintings and tapestries concealed secret passages behind them.
Albert chuckled and said, "If you think so, I won't deny it."
"Did you find the entrance back then?" Katrina stared at Albert, seemingly concerned about this question.
"I did, but in the end, it was Isabelle who took me into Room 21," Albert answered.
"Why?" Katrina asked, puzzled.
"Because the way to get in is a bit special," Albert said. "So, do you want to try it, or should I just tell you where the entrance to Room 21 is?"
"I'll find it," Katrina said, determined to find the entrance to the Transfiguration Club on the sixth floor.
After more than ten minutes, they had searched the entire sixth floor and still hadn't found the entrance to Room 21. They returned to the original corridor.
"Okay, you win. I've wasted my time on this, so where is the entrance?" Katrina asked, somewhat unwillingly, biting her lip.
"You see, it's right here," Albert pointed to a portrait beside him.
"You must have done it on purpose!" Katrina gave Albert a strange look. Did this guy deliberately mislead her from the beginning to the end?
"No," Albert denied, "Magic can't conjure up delicious food out of thin air."
"I know that," Katrina said, displeased.
Albert didn't mind her tone and said to the witch in the portrait, "We need to enter Room 21."
The witch nodded slightly, and the portrait moved to the side, revealing a half-human-high opening in the wall behind it.
"To enter Room 21, you need to tell the lady in the portrait, and she will open the door for you," Albert reminded.
"So, you were definitely doing it on purpose. You really are a guy with a wicked sense of humor!" Katrina gave Albert a deep look and then bent down to crawl into the opening.
"It's almost time," Albert took out his pocket watch, glanced at the time, and looked up at Katrina. "I have to go now. I have Defense Against the Dark Arts class later. When we meet in the evening, please remember to pass on my message to Professor McGonagall."
"If I remember," Katrina mumbled as she watched Albert's departing figure.
Albert arrived at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom just as the bell rang. Most of the students were already there.
Professor Rawling entered the classroom as the bell rang, walked to the front of the room with the register in hand, and said, "I received a letter from Professor Broadduck, and he told me about your progress. Today, what you need to learn is to understand, recognize, and know how to deal with dark magical creatures such as Bogarts, Red Caps, Hinkypunks, and Grindylows."
Professor Rawling glanced at the register and then scanned the classroom, making sure everyone was present. He continued, "Today, you only need to bring your wands and focus on how to deal with Bogarts. Follow me; it's not easy to try it out. I managed to get someone to bring a Bogart from outside for you."
Professor Rawling led everyone out of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and headed to an unused classroom on the third floor. Inside the room, apart from desks piled together, covered in dust, there was a box. As Professor Rawling approached the box, it suddenly shook, startling everyone.
"No doubt, this Bogart can't wait to scare people," Professor Rawling sat on the box calmly, looked around at everyone, and raised his index finger, asking, "Now, who can tell me what a Bogart is?"
Everyone looked at each other, and in the end, they all turned their gaze towards Albert, as if it was self-evident.
"Alright then, since that's the case, Albert," Professor Rawling noticed this action and also looked at Albert. "I think this question should be easy for you."
"A Bogart is a shape-shifting non-being. It appears out of nowhere but has never lived. It can transform into whatever nearby person fears the most."
"It especially likes to live in dark and narrow spaces, such as closets, cracks under beds, sinks, storage cabinets under desks, and boxes. It likes to prove its existence by making some noises."
"No one knows what a Bogart looks like when it's alone, as it immediately changes into whatever the person fears most," Albert paused for a moment, and then continued, "Perhaps, we can try some special means to capture a picture of what the Bogart looks like when it's alone."
"Interesting idea. However, this requires equipment support to attempt," Professor Rawling was very satisfied with Albert's idea and gave Gryffindor ten points.
"Now, who can tell me the best way to deal with a Bogart?" Lee Jordan said.
"Travel in groups," Lee Jordan said.
"Yes, so when we face a Bogart, we have the advantage because we can confuse it. A Bogart will become something unrelated to its true form when there are many people around," Professor Rawling said, paying no attention to the shaking box beneath him. "The spell to repel a Bogart is simple; you just need to focus your mind and force it to transform into something you find ridiculous. But here's something you all need to know, what truly frightens away a Bogart is your laughter. Otherwise, you'll only change its appearance with the spell, but you won't be able to completely defeat it."
"Now, without using wands, say the incantation with me: 'Riddikulus, Riddikulus.'"
"Riddikulus, Riddikulus!" the whole class exclaimed in unison.
"Very good. Let's put this spell to the test with some practice. Who wants to go first?" Professor Rawling clapped his hands and looked at the class, asking, "No one?"
"I'll go first," Albert stepped forward.
"Good, Albert," Professor Rawling said, "What is it that you fear the most?"
"Well, actually, I'm curious myself about what I might be afraid of," Albert shrugged in response.
To be honest, Albert didn't really know what he was afraid of.
His secrets being revealed, perhaps?
"Alright, later, the Bogart will turn into something you fear, and you need to imagine how to force it to turn into something ridiculous. Imagine it in your mind first, then say the incantation out loud," Professor Rawling's words were actually meant for the other students.
"Now, everyone move back; we need to give the Bogart enough space so it won't be disturbed by others," Professor Rawling gestured for everyone to move to the wall, leaving Albert facing the Bogart in the box alone.
"Ready?"
"Ready," Albert raised his wand and stared at the shaking box.
"One, two, three, go!" Professor Rawling used the spell to open the box.
The Bogart burst out of the box and, upon encountering Albert, suddenly spun around and transformed into... a thick book?
Not only Albert, but the others in the classroom were also stunned, whispering among themselves.
Many even stretched their necks forward, seemingly trying to figure out what kind of book the Bogart had turned into.
"I can only say, Albert, you never fail to be unique, even with the things you fear," Lee Jordan couldn't help but comment, "Is it because you fear the book being too thin that you read it all at once?"
"Professor Rawling, what's going on?" George asked in astonishment.
"Perhaps, it can only be said that Albert might not have anything he fears in the first place, so the Bogart..." Professor Rawling hadn't finished his sentence when he saw Albert had already stepped forward and raised both hands to pat the book, trying... well, trying to open the book, to see its contents?
That's right, when the Bogart turned into a book, Albert had already guessed what book it was—The Complete Harry Potter Series.
So, the thing he fears is actually the plot of the Harry Potter novels being altered?
Maybe, perhaps not, Albert couldn't be sure himself.
But now, Albert wanted to try and see if the book could be opened, to take a look inside.
However, it seemed that the items conjured by the Bogart didn't have such functionality.
"I can't open it, what's the use?" Albert tossed the book to the ground and stomped on it with his foot.
The others in the classroom all stared, dumbfounded.
This was a bit too fierce.
At this moment, they suddenly felt a bit sympathetic towards the Bogart.
You come out to scare people, and now you've run into a tough one!
"Wait, Albert, please don't handle this Bogart so violently. Give everyone a chance to practice," Professor Rawling's mouth twitched as he hurriedly stepped forward to stop Albert's rampage.
After Professor Rawling appeared, the Bogart finally escaped the fate of being trampled on and turned into a corpse.
Albert couldn't help but furrow his brows slightly and glanced at Professor Rawling beside him before stepping back.
"Alright! If that's the case," Professor Rawling sighed and raised his wand, saying, "Riddikulus, Riddikulus!"
With a bang, the corpse disappeared, now contained inside a coffin.
"Albert, sorry to bother you again," Professor Rawling stepped aside, allowing Albert to face the Bogart again.
The coffin turned back into a book, and that book was finally wrapped in iron, becoming a brick.
However, no one paid attention to the Bogart; everyone noticed that Professor Rawling's mood seemed a bit low.
"He was a good friend of mine, who died in a magical experiment," Professor Rawling said with emotion, "Alright, everyone, line up and try casting the spell on the Bogart."
No one would mock Professor Rawling; there was no doubt that the death of his close friend had deeply affected him.
Fred and George's Bogart both turned into a giant eight-eyed spider, which had almost eaten them a few months ago, leaving them with some psychological trauma.
However, they equipped all eight legs of the giant spider with roller skates, making it lose balance and only able to dance in place, unable to stand up again. This comical scene made everyone burst into laughter.
Lee Jordan's Bogart was even funnier, turning into a plate of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans that had been spilled out. However, inside were some disgusting flavors like earwax and snot, which led to him being teased by Fred and George for quite a long time.
